Summary of Position

The Associate Director reports to and under the general direction of the Child Welfare Education Partnership Program Director, this position is responsible to provide professional development advising and corresponding training for Department of Children Youth and Families (DCYF) staff.

The Associate Director oversees a team of Instructor Coaches (IC’s) that provides professional development coaching and training to DCYF staff and leads corresponding trainings in multiple delivery modalities as required by the contract with the New Hampshire Division of Health and Human Services. The Associate Director will ensure that the vision and mission of CWEP are aligned with DCYF and are flexible and responsive to shifts in the current philosophy and practice of DCFY with an emphasis on lived experience in all aspects of the program. In addition, this position will ensure all deliverables related to Core Academy are met. This includes the coordination and oversight of the Core Pre-Service training program for incoming DCYF staff.

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in delivering training, curriculum development, needs assessment and online instruction utilizing a learning management system (LMS).
  • At least 2 years’ experience in child welfare and corresponding educational training programs.
  • 2 years of supervisory experience, with a focus on faculty and instructors from a variety of academic disciplines and technological skills a plus.
  • Excellent presentation, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional communication and group facilitation skills, strong organizational skills with close attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, meet project deadlines, communicate with stakeholders, and work in a team environment as well as independently.
  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies necessary to fulfill contractual obligations.

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in related field.
  • 5 years of relevant experience with DCYF, adult learning and higher education.
  • A working knowledge of instructional design theory and practice particularly in relation to delivering online courses to adult students.

Duty/Responsibility

Coordination and Oversight of Core Academy:
  • Recruit, interview, hire, and supervise instructors for Core Academy trainings(s).
  • Ensure deliverables of the contract related to Core Academy are being met including but not limited to scheduling, maintaining consistent communication with instructors for the program, observation of instructors and ensuring appropriate curriculum changes are being made to ensure policy and practice changes are incorporated.
  • Collaborate with Curriculum Specialist, content experts, and Instructors to create new trainings and update existing trainings to meet best practice standards in coordination with Quality Assurance Specialist Supervisor.
  • Provide daily oversight of logistical matters pertaining to attendance, cancellations and/or rescheduling, preparation of materials, and class delivery.
  • Coordinate an ongoing program effectiveness evaluation process in conjunction with CWEP Program Director and QA Specialist. Assist in program effectiveness evaluation report creation in conjunction with a continuous quality improvement (CQI) plan, and report quarterly on the CQI process
  • Maintain a strong line of communication with DCYF staff and leadership to ensure program meets both program and budget expectations
  • Ensure program expenditures, are submitted in a timely manner and maintain fidelity to budget requirements and UNH procedures
  • Instruct Core Academy classes.
  • Participate in national and regional training collaboratives as requested by Director.

Duty/Responsibility

Staff Supervision:
  • Provide direction and overall leadership to Lead Instructor Coach, and other Instructor Coaches.
  • Collaborate with program supervisors and staff to ensure program deliverables are met in accordance with DCYF and UNH’s expectations.
  • Review responsibilities and workload on a regular basis to ensure proper alignment with the goals of the contract and appropriate distribution across the program personnel.
  • Ensure CWEP participation in practice improvement committees as requested by DCYF
  • Accountable for annual staff performance evaluations, approval of staff leaves and any other personnel matters involving Instructor Coaches.
  • Participate in committees as assigned by DCYF and/or UN CPS necessary for effective and efficient program delivery.

Duty/Responsibility

Program Planning:
  • Work in partnership with DCYF and QA staff to effectively assess training needs of DCYF staff and supervisors and develop the development of advanced and/or refresher training offerings.
  • Work in conjunction with Curriculum Development Team to create curricula, schedule and deliver trainings advanced and refresher trainings for DCYF staff and other associated partners, ensuring parent and youth voice are integral to the work.
  • Actively engage with the program staff to ensure that all curriculum development, learning outcomes and language for all delivery modalities are current with DCYF practice and youth and parent voice.
  • Assure all instructors are trained in and adhere to the DCYF Practice Model while representing the program and DCYF with ethics and integrity.
  • Ensure Core Curriculum, ongoing training curricula, and special trainings meet expectations of NH Competency Model and encompass DCYF policy.
  • Oversight of Court Improvement Project training plans and follow CWEP SOP
  • Oversight of the Mentor Program ensuring its success and sustainability and lead new training developed for an advanced mentoring program.
  • Provide oversight and direction for the planning of DCYF training events in conjunction with the Director.
  • Attend DCYF Workforce Development Committee and other committees/workgroups as directed by the Director.

Duty/Responsibility

Continuous Quality improvement:
  • Coordinate an ongoing program effectiveness evaluation process in conjunction with CWEP Program Director and QA Specialist. Assist in program effectiveness evaluation report creation in conjunction with a continuous quality improvement (CQI) plan, and report quarterly on the CQI process.
  • Assist in the coordination of Silent Observers to attend Core Academy courses selected and follow up to elicit feedback and evaluation.
  • Consult with instructor to identify improvements and enhancements for their courses including resources, learning objectives, activities, multi-media instructional assets and delivery techniques with attention to universal design principals.
  • Ensuring trainer field guides are established for all Core courses.
  • Observe the trainers by randomly observing course to ensure fidelity to curriculum.
