Summary of Position

The Data Center Administrator is part of the Research Computing Center team for USNH Enterprise Technology and Services (ET&S). Position requirements include direct support of hardware and software and networking in use by researchers, including installation, deinstallation, backups, break/fix and operating system installation and support. Stay current with Windows, Linux-specific and related technologies and follow best practices enforcing security, data, and general system integrity. This position will communicate with clients and other ET&S teams to discuss, recommend, and deliver solutions for project deliverables, work requests, and other service and server-related issues. This is an in-person position.

Duty/Responsibility

  • Responsible for direct support of hardware and software in use by researchers, including installation, deinstallation, backups, break/fix and operating system installation and support.
  • Maintain accurate hardware inventory of research systems.
  • Assist Cybersecurity with implementation and maintenance of security software and tools, focusing on bringing research systems into and maintaining compliance with ET&S security policies and practices.

Duty/Responsibility

  • Responsible for Windows and Linux system administration, focusing on research systems.
  • Expertise in various Linux flavors – Redhat, Ubuntu, Debian etc.
  • Work with the Windows Administration team to ensure Enterprise policies and best practices are used on research systems.

Duty/Responsibility

  • Responsible for assisting the Data Center Operations Team with the daily operation of the USNH Data Centers, focusing on the Lenharth Data Center.
  • Coordinate and facilitate vendor support for HVAC, Power, Fire Suppression and physical security.
  • Assist Property Control with asset tagging and auditing of physical assets.
  • Assist with compliance auditing and record keeping.
  • Physical installation/deinstallation of equipment and cabling at multiple sites.

Duty/Responsibility

  • Assist with the creation, deletion and maintenance of accounts on research systems, including High Performance Compute clusters.
  • Monitor ticket queues and respond to tickets to ensure rapid, accurate resolution of customer requests.

Duty/Responsibility

  • Collaborate with Network Operations team with networking installation, deinstallation, troubleshooting and support of networking equipment and connections within the data centers.

Duty/Responsibility

  • Provide evening and weekend coverage for time critical events and production issues or changes.
  • Other duties as assigned.
