ROLE of the POSITION

This position exists to support the Executive Director (ED) of Business Affairs Quality Assurance and Financial Compliance with assisting university management in the discharge of their oversight, management and operating responsibilities governing compliance, quality, and risk management. The position will primarily support two functional areas:

1. Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC) system support - (1) serve as the post implementation system administrator and lead for end-user support and training for a web-based software application, and (2) develop informational, technical and training materials.

2. Business process improvement (BPI) technical support - (1) collaborate with cross-functional teams to assist with assessing BPI opportunities originating from the identification of compliance and risk management gaps and/or inefficiencies, and (2) assist with developing and executing project plans for approved BPI projects, including applying recognized quality and continuous improvement techniques, methodologies and frameworks.

The analyst will work with the ED and cross-functional teams to support post -implementation system maintenance, provide end-user support and training, and assist with BPI initiatives by: (1) dedicating initial work efforts to the implementation and maintenance of a new GRC software application; (2) leveraging the new GRC application to improve current business processes, practices, protocols and workflows, and (3) applying new technology to business processes across the Business Affairs division to enhance effectiveness and efficiency. The analyst will (1) assist with mapping functions among business processes, internal controls, policies and procedures, and recognized frameworks, (2) develop, update and maintain documentation, including project plans, procedures and technical material, for QAFC business processes, protocols, practices, workflows, and internal controls included in the GRC scope of work, and (3) assist with evaluating existing practices to identify opportunities for improvement, including automating manual processes.

The BA will also (1) assist with developing training materials and delivering staff training on the effective use of the new GRC SaaS platform, (2) provide end-user technical support, including responding to questions, researching options to generate solutions and escalating unresolved technical support requests to the ED, and (3) understand how to extract and report information from the GRC and university system of record (Workday) to aid management with decision making.

QUALIFICATIONS

This position requires a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university in business, accounting, or related field and 3-5 years' experience in:

  • Experience as an analyst or similar role responsible for providing technical support or customer service for a hosted application

  • General experience documenting and mapping business processes, with a general understanding of internal controls.

  • Exposure to or a basic understanding of regulatory, legal, and contractual compliance requirements with Higher Education

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Project Management Professional (PMP)

  • Lean/Six Sigma Certification

Credentials must be obtained prior to the start of employment.

SALARY RANGE

Salary competitive with those at similarly situated institutions. Position is contingent upon funding.

Pursuant to Assembly Bill (AB) 3 passed by the Nevada State Legislature during the 31st Special Legislative Session, employees are required to take furlough at a 4.6 percent monthly reduction in compensation from January 1, 2021 through June 30, 2021.
