Description

The International Center at Santa Fe College is the hub for international students, international visitors, exchange scholars, and study-abroad opportunities. The International Center is comprised of International Student Services, international Student Support and Advising, International Education, and English for Academic Purposes. The Full-time Administrative Support Specialist will operate the front desk and perform clerical and administrative tasks for daily operation of the International Center.

This position will be hired through Spherion, and all relevant application materials will be forwarded to them for onboarding. 

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provide a professional, helpful, and welcoming atmosphere by greeting, responding to, and directing visitors.
  • Accept, screen, and route telephone calls concerning activities and operations of the office, directing inquiries as appropriate and/or providing information.
  • Oversee opening and closing duties of the International Center.
  • Provide service excellence through courteous, informed, accessible, and professional engagement.
  • Receive and process departmental paperwork.
  • Perform general office clerk duties and errands.
  • Maintaining supplies inventory.
  • Maintaining office equipment as needed.
  • Creating, maintaining, and entering information into databases.
  • Managing filing system.
  • Helping organize and maintain office common areas.
  • Assist students (current and prospective) and visitors by answering inquiries and referring to other departments/offices when needed. 
  • Learning immigration regulations and college procedures to help students when the supervisors are not available. 
  • Coordinate events as necessary.
  • Assist with coordination of student employees.
  • Support the different departments in the International Center.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Reports to: Coordinator, International Student Services
 

Qualifications

Required:  High School diploma or equivalent, and two years of customer services experience. Computer skills and experience with MS Office, Word, and Excel. Ideal candidate must be professional, self-motived, able to maintain confidentiality, possess excellent communication skills, possess a basic working knowledge of computers and general office equipment (copier, scanner, facsimile, etc.), and work well with others as well as alone.

Additional Requirements:  A criminal background check will be conducted.

Preferred: Competencies in multiple languages, with a strong preference for Spanish language proficiency. Higher education experience.
