Senior Post Doctoral Associate (Lead Bioinformatics Scientist) UH-Sequencing Core
 
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in computational biology, expertise in statistical analysis and programming languages such as R, Perl, and Python, and a proven track record of leading bioinformatics projects.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead and mentor a team of computational biologists in the analysis of NGS data, including but not limited to genomics and transcriptomics data.
2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and execute bioinformatics pipelines for processing and analyzing multi-omics data, to uncover novel biomarkers and therapeutic targets.
3. Drive the development of bioinformatics tools and resources to facilitate data analysis, interpretation, and visualization, ensuring reproducibility and scalability of computational workflows.
 
Qualifications
 

Doctoral and No experience

Requires singular knowledge of a specialized advanced professional discipline or the highest level of general business knowledge, normally acquired through attainment of a directly job-related terminal degree or equivalent formal training in a recognized field of specialization that is directly related to the type of work being performed. No experience is required.

 Preferred qualifications:

1. PhD in computational biology, bioinformatics, biology, or a related field.
2. Minimum of 5 years of postdoctoral or professional experience in bioinformatics, with a focus on cancer research preferred.
3. Demonstrated expertise in analyzing NGS data for biomarker discovery and translational research.
4. Proficiency in programming languages such as R and Python, as well as experience with bioinformatics tools and packages for data analysis and visualization.
5. Experience with high-performance computing (HPC) environments and cloud-based bioinformatics platforms.
6. Familiarity with version control systems and software development methodologies for collaborative and reproducible research.
7. Experience in building bioinformatics tools and pipelines to support large-scale omics data analysis and processing.
 
Salary: Commensurate with experience
