Job Description:
The College of Engineering, Department of Materials Science and Engineering is seeking a Post Doctoral Scholar to carry out a research program on design of novel multi-phase microstructures for HEAs to achieve desired properties and enhanced performance for low-density and high-temperature aircraft structural applications via phase-transformation-pathway (PTP) engineering and defect engineering.
The Post Doctoral Scholar will build upon the recent experimental investigations, and CALPHAD modeling and phase-field simulation capabilities developed at OSU, to lead the computation efforts in fundamental understanding of the phase transformation mechanisms and predict optimal PTPs leading to desired microstructures in several promising multiphase bcc-based RHEAs consisting of bcc+B2 phases for high-temperature structural applications and aid the on-going experimental efforts in the alloy development and optimization. Develop new modeling capabilities when needed.
Required Education:
PhD in Materials Science and Engineering
Desired Education:
PhD in Materials Science and Engineering
Required Experience:
Experience in CALPHAD modeling and phase field simulations of phase equilibria and phase transformations in HEAs.
Desired Experience:
Experience in Computational and experimental study of HEAs, in particular, phase equilibra, phase transformations, and microstructural evolution as well as AB inito calculations.
