REPORTS TO: Vice President of Institutional Effectiveness and Business Programs Operations (VP, IEBPO)

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY: The Associate Dean of Academic Affairs supports all academic schools and programs at the University, to include faculty, curriculum, scheduling of classes, accreditation, and program development responsibilities.


  • To promote the mission and support institutional objectives of Hodges University.
  • To adhere to all FERPA requirements to include maintenance of all department documents, discussions, and records.
  • To provide the highest level of professionalism and customer service to all constituents.
  • To support the VP, IEBPO in coordinating and facilitating school-level curriculum meetings, Academic Committee meetings, Faculty Meetings, and preparing meeting agendas and minutes.
  • To maintain the Academic Affairs Team Site; to organize, document, and keep records for Academic Affairs.
  • To facilitate updates to the University Catalog, Student Handbook, Registration Terms and Conditions, and to contribute to the updates of the Academic Policy Manual, programmatic policies, and other related documents.
  • To monitor and assign full-time and adjunct faculty load, prepare and monitor adjunct and overload contracts, and manage annual full-time faculty contracts.
  • To ensure that all course syllabi are created and stored in the University’s syllabus database.
  • To assist with faculty qualification and uploading supporting documentation to the University’s faculty Qualifications database.
  • To be a participating member of the Strategic Planning and Budget Council.
  • To plan and facilitate programmatic advisory committee meetings.
  • To assist in the promotion of instructional improvement through faculty orientation, in-service trainings, faculty meetings and professional development.
  • To collaborate with the AVP of Student Services to ensure the Annual Course Schedule remains aligned with the course sequencing requirements of the University’s various programs.
  • To prepare annual academic program budgets for all academic departments.
  • To collaborate with all other departments in the University, including all Student Services Offices, Institutional Effectiveness, Marketing, Programmatic Quality, Advancement, and Professional Education & Training.
  • To counsel faculty regarding problems with students, staff, or other faculty.
  • To enforce relevant academic policies.
  • To review academic petitions.
  • To promote the University’s success by active involvement in civic and professional organizations.
  • To conduct other projects and duties as assigned.


Candidate is expected to have a terminal degree and at least five years of college level teaching experience in an academic discipline related to a program taught in the University. Candidate should also have served in an administrative capacity at the program chair level or the equivalent. The Associate Dean will demonstrate a capacity for providing vision to guide future growth and program development as the market and environment change.

Substantial leadership experience is required and the ability to interact effectively with students, faculty, administration, the general public, industry leaders, and various regulatory agencies.
