DESCRIPTION

The Moores Cancer Center (MCC) is one of just 54 NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Centers in the United States and the only one in San Diego County. The Clinical Trials Office (CTO) at UCSD's Moores Cancer Center administers many clinical trials on behalf of its member investigators, including trials sponsored by National Cancer Institute cooperative groups, pharmaceutical companies, and physician investigators.

Under close supervision of the Assistant Director, Clinical Trials Finance Support, the incumbent will support invoicing and reconciliation of clinical trials to optimize revenue collections for the MCC CTO's portfolio. Provides assistance in maintaining 50-100 financial accounts for studies and reviews financial documentation across multiple systems (including, but not limited to: agreements and budgets, payment remittances, grant awards, coverage analysis, etc.). Utilizes multiple systems to document and manage Accounts Receivable (A/R) in CTMS, Financial System of Record, and other systems as needed. Develop good working relationships with Sponsors and CROs in efforts to maintain collection procedures and processes to help resolve issues of overdue accounts. Assist with reviewing reports for Disease Teams and communicating A/R improvements to Disease Team and individual study staff (e.g., CRCs, Data Coordinators, etc.) to resolve any delinquency status. Assist with addressing and correcting billing issues, and follow-up actions required to ensure the timely receipt of payments.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Four years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor's degree in related area.

  • Basic knowledge of financial transactions and systems, as well as related policy, accounting, and regulatory compliance requirements.

  • Basic accounting-related skills.

  • Demonstrated experience in customer service, billing and/or collection processes.

  • Basic knowledge of common desktop/web applications. Ability to enter and interpret data to produce financial reports.

  • Ability to gather, organize, and perform basic accounting related analysis to complete work assignments.

  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.

  • Works well in a team setting environment

  • Ability to maintain strict attention to detail, accuracy, clarity and confidentiality. Ability to protect the integrity of secured information.

  • Ability to learn accounting procedures to maintain proper records for audit purposes

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Prior experience in oncology clinical trials finance.

  • Knowledge of UCSD billing systems and policies/procedures.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $47,800 - $79,400 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $22.89 - $38.03

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
