Basic Function

Under general supervision, to perform a variety of personnel transaction clerical functions, including recruitment, examination and selection processes; to maintain records and files pertaining to a variety of personnel management activities; and to do other related work as required.

Representative Duties

Responds to inquiries and assists College personnel and the general public concerning matters related to position vacancies and promotional opportunities. E

Responds to inquiries from College personnel pertaining to a variety of personnel transaction matters, which may include explanations of policies, regulations and guidelines. E

Establishes, maintains, and reviews personnel records and files to ensure compliance with College policies, rules and regulations. E

Assists in the development of documentation to ensure clearance related to employment, including fingerprint review, verification of experience and training medical review. E

Prepares job announcements for printing and distribution to recruitment sources. E

Places advertising copy in a variety of job announcement resources. E

Obtains and records employee background information. E

Answers inquiries to verify employment and compensation level according to a predetermined procedure. E

Assists with the various clerical aspects of the Governing Board action follow-up. E

Inputs data into a data processing information management, storage and retrieval system, and prepares output reports as necessary. E

Performs routine review and screening of employment applications to ensure compliance with selection requirements. E

Assists with preemployment recruitment and selection processes. E

Assists with selection examination processes and in the preparation employment lists in accordance with predetermined rules and guidelines. E

Maintains files and records pertaining to affirmative action trends. E

Operates a variety of office machines including personal computer and word processing software such as Microsoft Office. E

Education and Experience

Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school, including or supplemented by training or coursework in automated record management systems, personnel management practices and other related areas and two years of responsible experience in specialized clerical work, preferably including one year in a personnel office.



Foreign Degrees

Any degree from a country other than the United States, including Canada and Great Britain, must be evaluated by an Evaluation Service prior to the closing date. Certification must be attached with copies of transcripts.

Position Description
