JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
A Postdoctoral Researcher position is currently available in the laboratory of Dr. Charles T. Anderson, Associate Professor of Biology, at The Pennsylvania State University.
The successful candidate will perform research in the Anderson Lab as part of the Center for Lignocellulose Structure and Formation, a highly collaborative Energy Frontiers Research Center funded by the US Department of Energy that is focused on developing a detailed understanding of plant cell walls, forming a foundation for significant advancement in sustainable energy and materials. The Anderson Lab uses molecular genetics, cell biology, biochemical analysis, and advanced microscopy to study the biosynthesis and dynamics of plant cell walls, with the goal of informing efforts to produce environmentally sustainable food, materials, and energy.
Minimum requirements for the position include:
- a PhD in plant biology, cell and molecular biology, or closely related field
- expertise in several of the following techniques: molecular biology, plant genetics and transformation, biochemical and structural analysis of glycans, microscopy, and/or computational image analysis, as demonstrated by publications in peer-reviewed journals
- ability to plan, execute, interpret, summarize, and trouble-shoot independent research
- ability to collaborate effectively with members of a research team
- excellent oral and written English communication skill
This appointment is a one-year appointment with the possibility of one-year renewal periods thereafter.
