Summary

The Sen Lab at the Michigan Neuroscience Institute (MNI) is seeking a qualified research coordinator to provide support for the conduct of the Intern Health Study, a national NIH-funded longitudinal cohort study that assesses genetic, mobile technology, and program factors involved in the development of depression under stress. As a part of the study, 1500 to 3000 participants per year complete surveys pertaining to personality traits, stressful life events, and psychological symptoms, and submit daily mood ratings via the Intern Health mobile app. They also wear a Fitbit or Apple Watch for the purpose of measuring activity and sleep, and provide a salivary DNA sample.

The research coordinator will work under the direction of the study director, as well as in close collaboration with undergraduate and graduate students, study staff, and the Principal Investigator. The opportunity to pursue independent research projects would also be available.

The majority of job tasks can be accomplished remotely. However, the study coordinator may need to be onsite 5 to 10 hours per week to oversee data collection and supervise undergraduate Research Assistants in the lab.

Responsibilities*

  • Manage day-to-day study operations, including recruitment, data collection, and maintaining participant records
  • Support set-up and implementation of the Intern Health mobile app, which includes tracking data collection and managing email communication for 2000+ participants
  • Along with the study director, supervise and train research assistants
  • If interested, work collaboratively with the study team to interpret and disseminate findings (e.g. data analysis, drafting literature reviews and manuscripts for publication)

Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g. psychology, public health, statistics), Master's preferred
  • 1-3 years of experience
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and exceptional attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to work efficiently under minimal supervision
  • Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Qualtrics, and RedCAP, Database and statistical software experience preferred

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.  Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
