Our North American Commercial Operations, as well as our Headquarters and Technology Center for Hemostasis and Acute Care Diagnostics, are based in Bedford, MA. Our Headquarters and Technology Center for Autoimmunity Diagnostics is based in San Diego, CA. Additionally, our Technology Center for Hemostasis and Blood Gas Reagents is in Orangeburg, NY, and our Technology Center for Whole Blood Hemostasis is in San Diego, CA.

Job Summary

This position is responsible for providing a wide variety of analytical, planning and reporting activities to support the financial controlling function for the company. Responsible for developing, implementing and improving financial reports for business unit managers. Works with managers to improve understanding of budget process and financial reports to improve company performance. Performs analysis of financials, summarizes results and makes recommendations for improvements. Will lead or participate in a variety of projects to contribute financial and strategic support and recommendations. Performs all work in accordance with Werfen Corporate Compliance regulations and all written procedures.

Responsibilities

Key Accountabilities:

  • Creates and prepares monthly financial reports with summary of explanations for variances between actual and budgeted data.
  • Builds financial database by identifying sources of information; assembling, verifying, and backing up data. Demonstrates judgement in selecting tools, processes and data to achieve results.
  • Ensures reports provide relevant financial information to business unit managers, making changes as needed. Works closely with managers to ensure understanding of impact of business decisions.
  • Develops and maintains strong working relationships and proactive collaboration across functional areas of the company.
  • Leads regular meetings with business unit managers to review of operating expenses.
  • May provide training on a variety of finance-related topics to managers and staff.
  • Provides training, to new and junior members of the team, as needed.
  • Represents Finance in leading preparation activities with business unit managers to support forecast and budget activities.
  • Reviews internal processes to ensure data accuracy. Makes recommendations for improvements, where applicable.
  • Leads and/or participates in a variety of projects initiated by Autoimmunity and/or Werfen Corporate offices.
  • Assists with profitability analysis and other commercial activities, as needed.
  • Performs account reconciliations and post journal entries as needed for month end.
  • Perform ad hoc analysis, business plans and financial presentations, as needed.
  • Complies with applicable Autoimmunity standard operating procedures (SOPs), ISO, FDA and other Quality System regulations, as well as applicable Environmental Health & Safety, Human Resources and all other regulatory and administrative policies.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience:

EdBBachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field required.

Exp5 or more years of finance or accounting experience required, preferably in the healthcare sector.

Management has the discretion of substituting relevant work experience for a degree and/or making exceptions to the years of experience requirement.

Skills and Competencies

  • Thorough understanding of generally accepted accounting principles required.
  • Proven track record analyzing financial statements and drawing valid conclusions required.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively summarize and communicate financial concepts to various levels of management required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and report building required.
  • Experience with data extraction required, experience with SAP preferred.

Travel Requirements

Limited to no travel required for this position.

The salary range for this position is currently $80,000 -$100,000. Individual compensation is based on the candidate's qualifications for the position, including experience, skills, knowledge, education, certifications, internal equity, budget and/or other business and organizational needs.
