Job Function
With a focus on promoting a positive client-centered Human Resources division and organizational culture, the Human Resources Business Partner – Faculty (HRBP) will independently perform and coordinates a wide variety of HR duties which require good judgment and a high degree of confidentiality. The position serves as the point of contact for faculty and adjunct related concerns. The HRBP formulates partnerships across the college departments to deliver value-added service to management and employees that reflect the business objectives of the organization.
Job Responsibilities
- Acts as HR Liaison with learning unit administration, staff and faculty in HR policy, procedure and practices.
- Provide a full range of services relating to the faculty bargaining units, including recruitment, hiring, compensation and employee labor and relations concerns.
- Provide HR policy, procedure and collective bargaining agreement guidance.
- Provide support in the revision, development and implementation of HR procedures.
- Expected to maintain current applicable knowledge of various bargaining agreements as they relate to employee hiring and payroll calculations.
- Work with the Director of Accreditation to support the Learning unit in maintaining HLC compliance.
- Work in collaboration with the learning unit to record certification, licensing and credentials of faculty as per HLC requirement and college policy.
- Lead the processing for the Faculty Load reports (RFALs)
- Responsible for initiation, development and processing employee payroll information as received from the various college departments.
- Lead the development and documentation of personnel procedures related to faculty employment and assignment contracts.
- Communicate with cost center supervisors and administrators to troubleshoot workload, salary and other personnel services issues/problems relating to faculty
- In collaboration with the payroll office works to resolve payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information and interacting with college departments.
- Perform and establish departmental procedures for audit functions related to implementation of faculty workload and faculty contract salary provisions
- In assistance with the learning unit works to provide recommendations and training to employees regarding Faculty Load reports (RFAL) process.
- Participate as a HR representative on the following committees: (1) Faculty Qualifications taskforce; and (2) Learning Unit / HR Adjunct Hiring and Onboarding committee.
- Provide individual and group trainings to administrators, supervisors and clerical staff on HR policy and procedures.
- Create and implement end-to-end hiring processes to ensure a positive experience for candidates and department.
- Coordinates and implements the procedural processes, programs and necessary reports designed to facilitate the recruitment, hiring and onboarding of new faculty and adjunct employees.
- Prepare salary determinations as assigned and deliver employment offers and contracts.
- Coordinate adjunct faculty job recruitment and work with learning unit departments to address hiring needs.
- Analyze and understand complex payroll records, summarize data and prepare reports in appropriate formats.
- Participates in collective bargaining with various bargaining units.
- Serves as an advisor for the negotiation team.
- Lead the editing process to finalize negotiated contracts and agreements.
- Work in conjunction with the Director of Labor and Employee Relations team to resolve employee issues regarding faculty and adjunct employees.
- Work in collaboration with administrators on special projects and HR initiatives.
- Coordinate, plan, and prioritize tasks according to time constraints and deadlines.
- Serve on committees and represent the department as assigned.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Education
Associate Degree from an accredited institution is required. Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field is preferred.
Qualifications
Three – five years' related experience required. One year of experience in a Human Resources environment is preferred. Two years of experience in a higher education/union environment is required.
