The SCCC Human Resources Assistant focuses on the day to day Customer Service and Administrative functions within the Human Resources department. Must possess a strong customer focus, with a  commitment to maintaining confidential college and employee information. The HR Assistant is a 24 hours per week position reporting to the Director of Human Resources.

  1. Responds to inquiries regarding the College’s processes, policies, procedures and programs.
  2. Facilitate all staffing processes:  employment advertising, scheduling interviews, answering applicant questions, presenting job offers, preparing declination emails, and conveying negotiation communications as needed.
  3. Facilitate all hiring processes:  conduct background investigations, distribute and collect new hire paperwork and maintain active communication with hiring department on status of hire.
  4. Complete new hire setup by creating personnel file, requesting IT access, emailing relevant departments and setting new hire up in mandatory on-line training and employee directory.
  5. Maintain active and terminated personnel files to ensure accurate and timely records retention and audit compliance. 
  6. Track and record submission of transcripts from newly hired adjuncts and distribute to Academic Affairs.
  7. Complete verification of employment requests and outside personnel inquiries.
  8. Coordinate ordering of supplies for the department, Annual Service Awards and business cards.
  9. Perform data entry, filing and other administrative tasks.
  10. Other duties as assigned

Essential Skills:

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Certification or Designation preferred with a concentration in one or more of the following areas: Microsoft Office Suite, human resources, finance/accounting, customer service or project management
  • Demonstrate a high level of confidentiality
  • Well organized, detail oriented, with the ability to multi-task while meeting deadlines
  • Superior Customer Service Skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Accurate in filing, data entry and checking data
  • Team Oriented

Preferred Skills:

  • Two or more years of human resources work experience.
  • HRIS specifically ADP

Salary:

$18.00 per hour
