The Department of Polymer Science and Engineering at the University of Massachusetts (UMass) Amherst invites applications for the Robert K. Barrett Chair in Polymer Science and Engineering Endowed Professorship starting in Fall 2021. The successful candidate will be appointed at the full professor level, with expertise in any area of polymer science and engineering, including polymer synthesis, polymer physics, polymer materials, and polymer engineering at the international level of excellence. Ideal candidates will have the ability to conduct and lead externally funded multi-investigator research programs that involve other departmental and campus colleagues, in addition to continued excellence in research, teaching, and service to the community. The successful candidate will mentor and educate students and postdoctoral fellows to conduct outstanding research in polymer science and engineering. Candidates will demonstrate collaboration with colleagues in the department, college, university, and nationally and internationally in the various facets of polymer science and engineering. Candidates will support Polymer Science and Engineering’s commitment to increasing the diversity of the faculty, student body and curriculum.
Candidates must have a Ph.D. in any discipline specializing in polymers, and possess experience that is commensurate with the established record of excellence. They must also have a research record of international caliber as documented, for example, by notable publications, patents, presentations, collaborations, and honors and awards; successful grantsmanship must also be evident.
