Essential Duties and Responsibilities

DUTIES:  

  • Instruct core curriculum classes in air conditioning and refrigeration.
  • Conduct instruction in a wide variety of settings and timeframes to include day, evening, and weekends at any instructional site including the Ayers Facility.  
  • Assist in the planning for instruction; prepare course materials, objectives, syllabi, and curriculum design.
  • Organize and maintain instructional equipment as required.
  • Serve as faculty advisor to an assigned group of students.
  • Teach assigned classes, supervise students in the lab or shop environment, and promote shop safety.
  • Provide a positive role model for students.
  • Comply with all policies of the Alabama Community College System and the College.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in air conditioning/refrigeration technology from a regionally accredited institution required.
  • Three (3) years of successful full-time experience as a practitioner in the field required.

 
DESIRED PROFILE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Professional industry certifications.
  • Experience in the commercial, industrial, and residential air conditioning/refrigeration fields.
  • Experience working with the incarcerated or disadvantaged students.
  • Ability to comply with standards, policies, and procedures of the Department of Corrections.
  • Teaching experience in a college setting.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to the teaching-learning process of the community college and the open-door admission process.
  • Commitment to all students, including those of diverse cultures and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Successful problem-solving skills.
  • Competency in the use of current educational technologies and willingness to develop and teach web-based courses.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to deal effectively with students, other employees, and the public.

SALARY:
Salary Schedule D-1 - $41,282 – $92,513 (9 months), based on education and experience. Additional summer employment may be available.
