College Access Specialist, TRIO
(Grant Funded)

Highland Community College is accepting applications for a College Access Specialist, TRIO Educational Opportunity Center (EOC) position. This full-time, grant funded position will provide services to college-ready individuals in Ogle, Carroll, Stephenson, and Winnebago counties. Responsibilities include organizing, implementing, and holding informational sessions as part of outreach and recruitment efforts to prospective participants for EOC; providing academic advising, financial literacy, and referral services to college-ready individuals; assisting with college preparation, including ACT/SAT preparation, college and scholarship application assistance, and financial aid applications; and developing and delivering academic, career, and financial literacy workshops. This position will assist participants in setting and achieving personal, educational and career goals and providing resources to participants to augment their career awareness, career exploration, and job search skills.

Bachelor’s degree in counseling, education, sociology or related field and one year of relevant experience working with low-income, first-generation students, other disadvantaged populations, or work in a TRIO program setting required. This position works with a diverse population of students and staff. A valid driver’s license is required. This position requires a criminal background check.
