Job Description

 

The School Admissions Advisor will proactively advise and guide prospective students and applicants to begin and complete the enrollment process at Minneapolis College. Promote the college’s vision, educational programs and student support services. Ensure new students are well prepared to start their first term and inspiring enrollment by demonstrating the role of the College in helping students realize their life goals and impact in the world. As part of the Admissions Team, assist with enrollment management events and activities to bring students to the college each term. This position will initiate and develop new recruitment ideas to expand the reach and impact of collective enrollment efforts.

Responsibilities may include, but not limited to the following:
    • Make presentations at area schools to promote college campus visits, tours and programs.
    • Explain admissions requirements, deadlines, course placement and first-term advising to prospective students and assist them in completing necessary paperwork and/or online application.
    • Collaborate with academic advisor and faculty from assigned programs to build quality events that convert inquiries to applications.

 


This position may be eligible for partial telework per Minneapolis College’s Telework Guidelines.
Required Qualifications
  • Work experience and/or combination of work experience and education in related field such as higher education, advising, counseling, admissions outreach or other related student serving experience.
  • Training and/or experience in providing support services to individuals from traditionally underserved groups.
  • Human relations/customer service skills sufficient to actively listen to and understand students’ needs and provide accurate information and appropriate alternatives, meet quality of service needs, and evaluate student satisfaction.
  • Demonstrates an ongoing understanding of cultural fluency. Incorporates culturally responsive practices, and actively engages in antiracism professional development learning opportunities.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and work independently.
  • Public speaking skills sufficient to present information clearly and actionable to large groups.

Former and current employees must be in good standing at Minneapolis College for consideration.

Salary Range for this classification is $24.20 – $35.13 hourly / $50,530 – $73,351 annually
