About the Role

The NBDF is seeking its next Senior Manager of Individual Giving to join our dynamic team. The selected candidate will play a role in overseeing our individual giving program across various levels, with a focus on event-based fundraising, including endurance events, annual galas, and other opportunities. This position is responsible for managing and cultivating relationships, as well as securing support from donors. This involves developing and implementing strategies to identify major gift prospects, fostering relationships with donors and prospects, managing the movement of these supporters, and optimizing their gifts. The role will also manage the production and processes that facilitate and support a high frequency direct response (mail, email, mobile, and social media driven) fundraising program. Collaboration with program vendors and a copywriter is key to designing annual appeals and message development. In addition, this position will provide supervision to a dedicated team responsible for fundraising through events and certain peer to peer programs.

Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Strategic Planning and Donor Cultivation

  • Develop short and long-term strategies for prospects, including annual giving goals and goals for discrete campaigns.
  • Identify prospects by reviewing donor lists from peer organizations; and using other strategies and database resources to identify new potential major donors, ensuring active pipeline.
  • Lead our special events, including conception, planning, and implementing strategic donor cultivation events.
  • Enter contact reports in donor records and ensure that next steps are scheduled for all active and prospective donors.

Fundraising and Donor Management

  • Stewardship and growth of NBDF’s major donor portfolio by developing methods to convey the impact of gifts and ensure that donors are kept up to date on key developments.
  • Assist with developing revenue goals for major giving, tracking progress closely to ensure that targets are met, and strategies re-examined when necessary to ensure achievement of goals.
  • Support individuals fundraising on behalf of NBDF, enlisting donors and volunteers to host events.
  • Maintain accurate donor records in Raiser’s Edge database and run reports as needed based on gift capacity, giving history, outstanding contacts, and other criteria.
  • Develop strategy memoranda and meeting scripts to prepare senior staff to make successful asks, demonstrating understanding of donor interests and philanthropic habits.
  • Oversee production processes and quality control of creative, copy, gift strings, personalization, gift acknowledgment, donor recognition and reports associated with direct mail campaigns. Create and manage timeline.
  • Collaborate with the fundraising team, managing logistics for the annual benefit and other events as needed.

Coaching and Leadership

  • Supervise and coach development staff and directly supervise the Annual Giving Manager and the Donor Engagement Specialist I. providing guidance and direction of their duties.
  • With the VP Advancement and Sr. Director of Corporate and Individual Giving, work with NBDF staff to build a culture of philanthropy and giving.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Requirements:

What You Bring:

To qualify for this unique opportunity, our ideal candidate should have the following experience and education:

  • Minimum of 5 to 7 years progressively responsible experience in individual giving and development.
  • Experience with developing successful strategies and effective major donor acquisition programs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, and experience with Donor Perfect or similar fundraising database.
  • Ability to self-prioritize and work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be detail-oriented and have a strong sense of responsibility and commitment.
  • Ability to work at evening or weekend events.

Where You Will Work:

This is a remote role, and the candidate can be based anywhere in the U.S; the ideal candidate will have comfort working remotely with a team located throughout the U.S. This position requires regular travel several times a year. Travel requested is usually outside the local area and overnight.

Compensation:

We have carefully considered industry benchmarks, the experience required for this position, and internal salary comparisons to determine the appropriate salary range for this role. For this position, NBDF has set a starting base salary range $83,000-$93,000 and it is non-negotiable due to our company's commitment to maintaining internal pay equity. This approach ensures that we maintain a fair and consistent compensation structure across the organization.
