Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

UMD’s Security, Privacy, Audit/Assessment, and Compliance Services (SPARCS) team is looking for a dedicated Graduate Assistant with a strong interest in IT solutions and innovation. In this role, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with tools like Splunk, BigID, and RedCAP, explore new applications and creative uses for existing applications, follow up on system findings, and assist in providing training to the community.

Minimum Qualifications:

EDUCATION:
  • Must be enrolled in a University of Maryland, College Park graduate program
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited University

EXPERIENCE:
  • Coursework or projects related to data analysis, IT solutions, or similar

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Basic understanding of IT concepts and tools.
  • Strong interest in exploring new technologies and methodologies.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills, adaptability, and a proactive attitude
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment

Preferences:

Preferences:
  • Completed internship focused on data analysis, IT solutions, or similar
  • Familiarity with common scripting languages
  • Experience with data visualization tools
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
  • Understanding of networking fundamentals
  • Understanding of cybersecurity principles

This is a full-time (20 hours per week) Graduate Assistantship.

Physical Demands
