This position will work a hybrid schedule which includes a combination of working both onsite in La Jolla and remote.

DESCRIPTION

Under supervision of the Principal Investigators, incumbent will assist in providing interventions to research participants with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, as well as individuals with suicidal thoughts and behaviors within the Department of Psychiatry. The incumbent will work on related tasks and conducting cognitive and diagnostic assessments, as well as sensor and related data collection modalities using mobile technology. Also assists in performing other duties including assessments of participants. Assists in serving as a liaison between studies and the PIs in case of emergency. Schedules visits as needed, prepares research forms, maintains research charts and study materials, as needed as well as translation of data collected into secure online platforms. Additionally, regularly attends and contributes to research meetings. Assist with other project and miscellaneous duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Theoretical knowledge in psychiatry, psychology or related field, including theoretical knowledge of and experience providing behavioral psychotherapy.

  • Theoretical knowledge and experience working in geriatric psychiatry including working with older adults with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.

  • Experience working with individuals with complex data including from mobile devices and sensors.

  • Experience training individuals in use of mobile devices to conduct assessments for individuals with serious mental illnesses.

  • Proven ability to conduct bio-psychosocial assessments.

  • Proven ability to effectively and accurately document research procedures. Proven ability to read, comprehend, and discuss research materials.

  • Good organizational skills to file and maintain participant tracking, including annual bio-psychosocial assessments. Ability to organize and maintain assessment materials, both paper and electronic versions. Demonstrated skill in accurate record keeping and ability to organize data.

  • Demonstrated experience with the operation of a personal computer and software applications, such as Microsoft Word and Excel.

  • Ability to coordinate and implement recruitment strategies of participants for research study and screen database to evaluate their eligibility for study participation.

  • Effective and diplomatic oral and written communication and interpersonal skills and ability to develop collaborations and professional relationships between research staff and community agencies serving older adults.

  • Strong communication skills (both verbal and written) needed to interact professionally and effectively in the work environment, including ability to conduct psychosocial interventions. Good organizational skills and ability to follow structured psychosocial interventions.

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain participant confidentiality.

  • Prior experience with Microsoft Excel/other database programs as well as SPSS, SAS or other statistical programs.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Familiarity with data sharing processes within the NIH.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $53,766 - $64,143 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $25.75 - $30.72

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
