This position will work a hybrid schedule which includes a combination of working both onsite at Rady Children's Hospital and remote.

The Child and Adolescent Services Research Center (CASRC) is part of the Department of Psychiatry at UC San Diego and physically located at Rady Children's Hospital. CASRC researchers study the implementation of evidence-based practices for children with a range of mental health and developmental problems in community care settings.

Under supervision of the Center Principal Investigators, the IN STEP Research Manager will be responsible for the complex function of program coordinating and management of the ImplementatioN Science and Team Effectiveness in Practice (IN STEP) Children's Mental Health Research Center. The IN STEP Center is funded by the National Institute of Mental Health to use organizational team effectiveness research to develop and test novel team-based implementation strategies, methods, and tools to improve the reach, quality, and effectiveness of care delivered in public systems serving children with mental health needs.

Primary responsibilities include: supervising research coordinators of the Centers' Cores and research projects; supporting the essential infrastructure for the community engagement and trial activities of the Center, managing budgetary and financial systems and processes to ensure efficient Center operations, managing implementation of the detailed protocol for risk assessment used for Data Safety and Monitoring, coordinating research, educational, and evaluation activities across the Center Cores and research projects; supporting evaluation of IN STEP Center activities and preparing evaluation and NIH progress reports; contributing to scientific outputs of the IN STEP Center including presentations, grant proposals, and publications; and contributing to the development of interactive IN STEP Center tools and resources. Assist with other project and miscellaneous tasks as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Seven (7) years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor's degree in related area plus three (3) years of related experience/training.

  • Must have a valid California Driver's license and acceptable driving record.

  • Working knowledge of safety, legal, cultural and regulatory requirements relative to field research responsibility.

  • Working knowledge of research discipline, principles, concepts, analysis and / or operations being conducted at field / remote sites.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of local customs, facility management and operations at field / remote sites.

  • Skills in budget preparation and monitoring, record-keeping and equipment inventory control.

  • Demonstrates skills in report preparation and research protocols.

  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Proficient computer competency.

  • Strong supervisory skills in hiring of new employees, salary actions, terminations, and performance ratings.

  • Proven ability to develop and maintain strategic relationships and partnerships with remote research partners.

  • Proven project management skills, particularly with large-scale clinical trials or human subjects research.

  • Experience in coordinating and management of clinical research studies and ensure timely and methodologically sound adherence to the projects' research protocol; proven ability to liaison with Principal Investigator and key personnel associated with the project to support research designs, resolve problems, propose modifications to the course of the studies as needed, and provide detailed updates.

  • Proven ability to manage budgets and effectively utilize financial systems to monitor expenditures and cost estimates.

  • Demonstrates ability to develop and maintain strategic relationships and partnerships with remote research partners.

  • Previous experience in a research setting involving human subjects, specifically individuals with mental health conditions, caregivers of individuals with mental health conditions, and/or health care providers.

  • Proven ability in supporting contributions to various adolescent and young adult research projects and in supporting contributions to scientific presentations and/or publications.

  • Experience and familiarity with childhood mental health. Proven knowledge of evidence-based treatments. Proven knowledge of psychological and mental health topics.

  • Proven knowledge of implementation science terms. Proven knowledge of team effectiveness research terms.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master's degree or Doctoral degree in Psychology, Public Health, Implementation Science, or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Spanish/English bilingual.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
  • Must have access to reliable transportation. Must be willing to travel occasionally to various research study sites.
  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including occasional overtime and evenings/weekends.
  • Annual TB test, flu vaccination and background check required to be in accordance with Rady Children's Hospital health requirements.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $61,800 - $108,000 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $29.60 - $51.72

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
