General Summary:

Responsible for addressing safety issues that arise from pet care centers and support centers to maintain and improve workplace safety. Analyzes data and trends, and reviews, amends, and/or creates policies to comply with OSHA (Occupational, Safety and Health Administration) and other federal, state and local safety regulations. Works independently with limited supervision.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

• Confers with management to provide technical advice and resolve safety problems. Activities include educating and training employees in workplace or environmental health and safety.

• Analyzes safety data, identifies and evaluates trends, priorities safety issues, prepares reports, and provides feedback and makes recommendations to management to decrease legal exposure and financial loss.

• Studies legislative trends affecting safety policies and regulations, reviews new regulations and makes recommendations on company policies, procedures and guidelines to ensure compliance with federal, state and local safety regulations.

• Plans, coordinates and implements complex projects to address safety issues at pet care centers and support centers. Activities include: analyzing information gathered through interviews with regulators and business process owners, researching federal, state and/or local safety regulations, assessing internal and external information, and reviewing documentation.

• Determines whether policies and procedures address regulatory requirements and are being followed. Recommends and drafts revisions to policies and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and 5 years of progressively responsible experience working with safety regulations, policies and practices, including 2 years of experience working in a safety compliance capacity, or an equivalent combination of education, experience and/or training.
