Position Summary:

As a key member of the Ice Arena team, the Junior Skating instructor is responsible for assisting Skating Instructors in the operation of the Skating School.

Essential Functions:

  1. Must be able to lift and carry 25 lbs.
  2. Must possess the physical ability to lead and interact in group activities and perform related physical skills as required.
  3. Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis.
  4. Ability to operate, access, and produce information from a desktop or laptop computer.
  5. Ability to understand written information.
  6. Must be in good physical health and mental health, capable of meeting the demands of the working environment.
  7. Must meet and health and safety regulations as defined by the Health Department as well as The Salvation Army.

Working Conditions:

Ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis. Ability to be able to lift up to 25lbs. Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinets drawers and reach overhead. Ability to operate computer, fax and telephone.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Must be fully trained in all skating disciplines.
  2. Must have a thorough knowledge of ISI and USFSA programs.
  3. Must have strong organizational skills and abilities.
  4. Able to function in an often loud and cold environment.
  5. Must be able to work with and relate well with co-workers.
  6. Must be able to read and write and communicate in English.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

  1. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, Lotus Notes, and integrated database applications helpful.
  2. Ability to use new software programs with basic training.
