DESCRIPTION:

Depending upon assigned area, operates one or more of the following types of heavy equipment and other related equipment: electrical line truck equipped with digger, backhoe, bulldozer, wheeled front end loader, excavators, bobcats, dump trucks Heavy Equipment Operator is a journey-level classification. The type(s) of heavy equipment operated varies according to assigned area. Incumbents are assigned to work crews and receive direction from supervisor/lead worker(s) for their assigned area.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Works with Lineperson/Cable Splicer Lead, Lineperson/Cable Splicer or Electrician operating equipment used during installation, maintenance and repair of the electric system
* Operates electrical line truck, digging pole holes, setting poles, transformers, switches and any other related hardware in and around energized lines
* Operates the small crane, ditch witch, and backhoe as needed
* Supports and participates in utility installations
* Positions materials manually
* Attaches rigging to loads
* Shovels dirt, gravel, cement and other necessary materials
* Maintains the work area to ensure it's clean, sweeps and picks up debris

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE (Dependent on level of completion):

* Experience in commercial and industrial construction required.
* Ten years or more electrical experience preferred.
* Electrical troubleshooting required.
* Experience with underground wiring, CDL license, and ability to operate equipment (i.e. trencher, backhoe, bucket truck) preferred but not required.
* Looking for a detailed oriented, conscientious, hardworking team player.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Physical Demands: The employee may require the ability to do the following:

• Lift 50 lbs from ground and pull 50 lbs of force.
• Perform ladder climbing, wire pulling and conduit pulling.
• Fully squat, stoop or kneel while wearing a 25 lb tool belt.
• Maintain a standing position for long periods of time while performing repetitive actions such as grasping or manipulating wires.
• Work off of ladders, man lifts or reach booms
• Working Environment: While performing duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to:
• A variety of weather conditions including cold, snow, rain, heat, etc.
• High noise levels

Bergelectric offers a competitive wage and benefits package which includes medical, dental, vision, 401k & life insurance. The pay range for this role is $19.00-$50.00/hr.* The compensation and title are subject to change depending on a candidate's' relevant experience.
