In the Field and in the Depot, performs project and systems engineering and sustainment of air combat training systems (ACTS) programs, which include airborne and ground subsystems, datalinks, aircraft integration, networking, and interface with multiple air combat data sources. Responsible to international and US DoD programs for requirements development, system design, analysis and trade studies, hardware/software design oversight, system integration, system level test, and subcontractor technical management/oversight. Position typically works under general supervision and direction. Incumbents of this position will regularly exercise discretionary and substantial decision-making authority and requires domestic and international travel.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Interface with program teams and customers to support, assess and deliver contracted program requirements while identifying opportunities to increase system performance and grow business in domestic and international markets.
  • Provide technical inputs to assigned projects and estimate, plan, schedule, and execute systems engineering activities as applicable.
  • Develop and manage system requirements across top-level and subsystems and oversee development/refinement of lower-level requirements.
  • Define operational concepts for a training system and perform analyses and trade studies as necessary to aid in the selection of system concepts.
  • Integrate specialty engineering disciplines into a project team and assist in directing project teams to define and document the system architecture and design.
  • Interface with both internal and external stakeholders including but not limited to engineering, program management, quality, finance, business development, services, sub-contractors, end users, and customers.
  • Support engineering activities for proposal efforts to include performing technical risk management activities.
  • Report status of on-going sustainment activities to immediate supervisor and stakeholders.

Minimum Job Requirements:

Four-year college degree in a technical discipline, plus five years of related experience, or an applicable Master's degree with three years of related experience. Experience in creating, analyzing, documenting, and testing system and subsystem designs. Effective written and oral communication skills. Works on projects of large scope and complexity. Accomplished customer relations and service skills. Able to manage multiple projects, tasks, and customer issues at one time while providing exceptional customer service. Able to work within budget and schedule constraints. Must be a self-starter, capable of functioning independently with sufficient initiative to search for and implement procedural improvements where warranted. Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds. Ability to use personal computer software such as spreadsheets and word processing programs and requirement management database tool. Mental ability to perform engineering problem solving and analytical tasks. Must be able to work under project deadlines and associated cost and schedule constraints. Must be able to obtain a Security Clearance. Will be required to travel to CONUS and OCONUS locations and may perform duties in austere environments and non-routine schedules.

Cubic Pay Range:

$111,384-$153,150 + benefits.
