We are seeking an Electrician who willsupport Southwest Regional Maintenance Center (SWRMC) located at Naval Base San Diego, CA in successfully accomplishing its mission to provide Outside Electrical Services to SWRMC Product Family Support Services for U.S. Navy Ships. This is a full time position located in San Diego, CA.

What You Will Do

Support contractor personnel shall troubleshoot, disassemble, repair, overhaul, assemble, install, and test SGSI equipment including F300, F500, and F600 assemblies and components. Support an conduct in-shop operational testing upon completion of work on SGSIs in accordance with established procedures.Applies comprehensive understanding of production and processes toward completion of assignments. Responsible for interfacing with customers, managing subcontractors and ability to provide work direction to others. Performs a variety of complicated and non-routinetasks. Develops and uses technical documents including controlled work packages, formal work processes and procedures, test documents, reports and task or trip reports. Schedules, reports and briefs customers and senior management. Performs duties outside of specialty in order to complete installation or work assignment.

What You Must Have
  • Must have knowledge of delivery and pick up SGSI components and parts at the Corrosion Control Shop for preservation.

  • Must have knowledge and experience to disassemble, inspect, pre-test, overhaul, rewind, and assemble various size U.S. Navy ship A/C motors.

  • Able to assist in the balance and conduct vibration analysis testing of overhauled and rewound motors.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain an active Security Clearance and CAC ID card for base access.

  • High School education, or Trade School or equivalent, and 4 years of related experience.

  • Must provide own hand tools as designated per trades specialty.

Bonus Points For...
  • Have knowledge of NAVSEA 9304.1D, SHIPBOARD ELECTRICAL CABLE AND CABLEWAY INSPECTION AND REPORTING PROCEDURES.

  • Have experience in Stabilized Glide Slope Indicators (SGSIs) and U.S. Navy Ship A/C Electric motor repair.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job, but no less than 30 lbs. Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces. Able to perform other duties as required which may involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions, working aloft or over the sides of vessels. May ride ships at sea for extended periods. May require wearing a respirator. Travel may be required within and outside of the continental United States.
