Buyer/Production Planner

In our San Diego lean manufacturing facility, we produce various components that protect sensitive computer equipment from heat and vibration - primarily in the defense and aerospace industries. These components are part of our industry leading SCHROFF product line.

This position will eventually become hybrid (on average, 3 days working in plant, 2 days from home) after an initial training period onsite and will be responsible for preparing and placing purchase orders for day to-day buying activities for the business and projects as well as planning and releasing work orders.
KEY ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage the day-to-day buying activities for site consumables, one-off purchase requests and Kanban items
Manage planning of work orders per the sale order requirements in line with manufacturing lead time and level loading requirements
Manage planning of customer expedites
Provide lead time for custom or high volume customer request
Flex up to place Purchase Orders (PO) for MRP requests or Outside process work orders
Flex up on quoting for custom orders
Update PO delivery dates and PO values in JDE
Assist with PO/Invoice reconciliation
Support Warehouse team with OS&D's.
Work collaboratively with procurement, materials, warehouse and project teams to ensure corporate and departmental objectives are achieved and maintained
Liaise as required with Project Services and Accounts Payable departments, as well as other internal business units
Assist with developing, communicating, maintaining, and improving policies, procedures and standard templates for the procurement and materials processes
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain or related field an asset
Ideally 2+ years experience in material distribution, buying or production planning
Must possess excellent computer skills (Word, Excel required, JDE preferred)
Analytical and problem solving skills
Attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to recommend and present ideas and solutions to groups at all levels of the organization
Strong organization, planning, and decision making ability.
Ability to build and maintain effective work relationships, both internal and external, and establish credibility with business partners.
Strong customer service skills and ability to communicate clearly and effectively to internal/external customers.
Our San Diego, CA facility is an ITAR controlled site. All candidates must be a "US Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. 120.15.

Pay Transparency
nVent's pay scale is based on the expected range of base pay for this job and the employee's work location. Employee pay within this range will be based on a combination of factors including knowledge, skills, abilities, experience, education, and performance. Where federal, state, or local minimum wage requirements exist, employee pay will comply.
