Job Summary
The Human Services program prepares students for entry-level positions in a variety of educational and social service professions and for transfer to bachelor’s degree programs at institutions of higher education throughout the country. The purpose of the CCRI Department of
Human Services is to teach students to function as competent, ethical Human Services practitioners and educators prepared to fill a variety of entry-level positions in a diverse society, well equipped to pursue a Baccalaureate degree in their chosen profession. Each concentration is designed to facilitate professional development and job market preparation balanced with courses that reflect the more traditional requirements for a well-rounded liberal arts education.

Duties and Responsibilities
Commitment to CCRI’s Mission:
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the philosophy and mission of a comprehensive community college.
  • Work collaboratively with others in a diverse and inclusive environment.
  • Work collaboratively in a diverse, inclusive, and student-centered environment, with students of various learning styles, cultures, identities, and life-experiences.
 

Recruitment
  • Recruit for and build the Early Childhood Education concentrations on all campuses.
  • Identify diverse community partners to develop quality field placement experiences.
Student Focus
  • Advise and assist Associate Degree students in the areas of course selection, employment, and career placement.
  • Advise students in the area of transfer to four-year-colleges.
 

Curriculum Development
  • Use innovative instructional strategies and technology that support student success and recognize diverse learning styles.
  • Provide supervision of paraprofessionals and adult learners in field placement settings.
 

Departmental Support
  • Contribute to a dynamic teaching and learning environment requiring teamwork, creativity, and adaptability.
  • Participate and teach at multi-campus locations as required by departmental needs.
  • Participate in departmental and college-wide activities and committee work.
  • Demonstrate commitment to collaboration and collegiality.
  • Other duties as required.

Minimum Requirements
Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education and Child Development required. Minimum of three years teaching Early Childhood Education courses, preferably at a Community College.

Competencies and Desired Qualifications
The most suitably qualified candidate will possess the following competencies:
Experience working in an early childhood setting from birth through age eight. Experience and involvement with various RI Early Childhood entities and current state-wide initiatives. Knowledge and demonstrated experience with regional and national Early Childhood Education criteria including RI Early Learning Development Standards, National Association for the Education of Young Children Standards and Competencies, and the RI Early Childhood Education Training Program grant. Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook. Excellence in Blackboard LMS and evidence-based best practices that improve student achievement.
