The Vice President of Education reports to the LCTCS President and will provide vision, direction, and leadership by serving and reporting directly to the Louisiana Community and Technical College System (LCTCS) President. The Vice President of Education provides leadership and oversight of all aspects of academics, workforce development, adult basic education, student affairs, financial aid, institutional research, and digital program delivery. The position serves as a key member of the LCTCS President’s Cabinet and works daily with the LCTCS President and the college Chancellors to execute on the broader vision resulting in a sustainable, repeatable, and deliberate approach to growth and excellence.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Lead the vision of the LCTCS Board of Supervisors and LCTCS President in creating an efficient and effective system promoting and advocating the unique value of higher educational opportunities afforded by the LCTCS
  • Maintain working professional relationships with all Chancellors to foster collaboration and innovative partnerships within and amongst colleges to expand and innovate educational services
  • Assess and create a cohesive environment between Chancellors and LCTCS Executive Staff conducive to supporting and serving all LCTCS colleges on all matters of educational and student services
  • Ensure compliance with all LCTCS educational and student directives and objectives
  • Evaluate educational and student models for efficiency and make recommendations that improves system stability and success
  • Analyze and identify state, regional, and institutional initiatives that best serve the LCTCS and each of its respective colleges.
  • Stay up to date on the impact of federal legislative initiatives upon educational and student services
  • Oversight of the development and review of policies and practices regarding academic affairs, student affairs, workforce development, adult basic education, financial aid, institutional research and digital program functional areas
  • Oversight of advancement, governmental affairs and public relations
  • Provide consultation and support to assist colleges in achieving educational and student services efficiencies
  • Other matters as assigned by the LCTCS Board of Supervisors or LCTCS President
  • Provide oversight and leadership of the accreditation requirements of the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and the Council on Occupational Education, Inc.
  • Represent the LCTCS at the Louisiana Board of Regents, the Louisiana Department of Education, the Louisiana Workforce Commission, Louisiana Economic Development, the Louisiana Department of Corrections, and other related organizations as requested
  • Provide assistance to the LCTCS Board of Supervisors with executive level searches
  • Other duties as assigned
Required Education :
  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution
Required Experience :
  • Served at an executive level for a minimum of 5 years
  • Demonstrated leadership in analyzing organizational efficiencies, culture change, and executing strategic initiatives
  • Significant high level administrative experience, including knowledge of postsecondary educational institutions, state government or business and industry
  • Experience and understanding of the missions of the community and technical colleges
  • Served in an executive level of a community college
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :
  • Prior successful experience leading, supervising, and mentoring professional managers
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and abilities in analysis and assessment of educational and student activities
  • Demonstrated success in executing and scaling institutional and system-level initiatives
  • Ability to forge successful relationships and partnerships
  • Ability and willingness to delegate effectively and to hold direct reports accountable
  • Skilled decision-maker, with transparency in decision making and management
  • Solution-driven with the ability to deliver performance-based results
  • Critical and analytical thinker able to exercise practical skills to problem-solve
  • Demonstrated success in strategically guiding and managing a group of people to achieve a common goal
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills
  • Leadership ability and commitment to the LCTCS mission and charge to the LCTCS Board of Supervisors
