INCLUSIVE ENROLLMENT COORDINATOR (ACADEMIC COORDINATOR)


 

BARGAINING UNIT/NON-UNIT: MCCC

ANTICIPATED START DATE: February 19, 2024, or as soon as possible thereafter.

SALARY RANGE: $32.00 per Hour, in accordance with the MCCC collective bargaining agreement provisions. 18.75 - 20 hours week.

This is a Massachusetts Department of Higher Education grant-funded position through August 31, 2024 with potential extension into the future pending confirmation of grant funding.


 

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

Reporting to the Provost, Academic and Student Affairs, the Inclusive Enrollment Coordinator is responsible for all aspects of planning and implementing the Massachusetts Inclusive Concurrent Enrollment (MAICE) program at Greenfield Community College as described in the MAICE Planning Grant proposal. This program provides comprehensive academic support for eligible high school students in transition, ages 18-21, with intellectual, autism, and severe developmental disabilities to promote access to campus life and college coursework in an inclusive setting. The Coordinator is the primary contact between the student, the family, College faculty and staff, the partnering school systems and state agencies, and the educational coaches supporting the students on campus.


 

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Develop programs with sending districts to build student independence through full inclusion in the academic and social life of the college.
  • Collaborate with high school transition specialists and liaisons to balance college coursework with community-based internships or employment.
  • Participate in recruitment, admission, and orientation of incoming students and referrals to disability services, peer tutoring, and student activities.
  • Partner with the College Office of Communication and Marketing to develop and update program materials for students, families, high school partners, and college faculty.
  • Work with College Academic Affairs to identify potential classes for program students.
  • Guide families on navigating the post-secondary educational system and the transition to college.
  • Co-facilitate Person Centered Plans for incoming students, in collaboration with high school partners.
  • Coordinate new student orientation including the development of program materials and presentations for incoming students and educational coaches, and arrange training for students on GCC email, website, and learning management system.
  • Provide academic advising by assisting students with course registration and advising students on credit vs. audit options.
  • Consult with educational coaches and transition specialists regarding the support needs of enrolled students.
  • Identify student performance concerns and provide access to appropriate support services.
  • Consult with College Disability Services and high school colleagues regarding providing students with the appropriate accommodations.
  • Coordinate professional development and training opportunities for faculty and staff to promote the inclusion and success of MAICE students in the college community.
  • Recruit and provide training for student peer mentors.
  • Perform administrative tasks associated with the MAICE program, such as
    • Provide statistical data and narrative to grant funder;
    • Coordinate semi-annual partnership team meetings;
    • Maintain student files;
    • Monitor the annual budget created in collaboration with the Business Office;
    • Manage purchase orders, tuition and fees, and books/materials accounts.
  • Collaborate with sending districts, the Provost of Academic and Student Affairs, and the business office on the creation of an annual Memorandum of Agreement between the high schools and the College (during the implementation phase of the program).
  • Develop a network with adult service agencies.
  • Connect students and their families with adult service providers in collaboration with high schools.
  • Coordinate activities of partnership members:
    • Communicate enrollment timelines, college calendar, and program activities;
    • Maintain a partnership contact spreadsheet.
  • Engage in professional development:
    • Attend seminars;
    • Participate in ongoing statewide MAICE partners meetings.


Job Requirements:


MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE*:

  • Master's degree in special education, counseling, psychology, or a closely related field required, or Bachelor's degree with commensurate professional experience in the field of disability service provision or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • At least three (3) years of experience working with young adults with intellectual disabilities, Autism, and/or developmental disabilities.
  • Thorough knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act, and Sections 504 and 508 of the Rehabilitation Act.
  • Competent computer user.
  • Experience with program development.
  • Knowledge of the principles of Universal Design for Learning.

 

REQUIRED SOFT SKILLS:

  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills with a proven record of accomplishment as a team player.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with ethnic, cultural, and socially diverse student populations.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bilingual (English-Spanish or English-ASL).
