The American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) is the primary advocacy organization for the nation’s community colleges. The Association represents nearly 1,100 two-year, associate degree-granting institutions and more than 12 million students. Membership is AACC’s single most important source of support, and the Association’s relationship with its members is the highest expression of our commitment to AACC’s mission of being the national voice of community colleges.

The American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) is seeking a veteran fundraiser to join its team. In this role, the Director of Corporate and Foundation Giving will use expert communication skills and a keen sense of initiative to spot fundraising and corporate partnership opportunities, develop relationships with potential donors and companies that lead to funding for association priorities, and manage fundraising campaigns. This position reports to the Senior Vice President, Strategic Initiatives.

The ideal candidate will be motivated, professional, organized, and have a knack for research. We’re looking for someone who believes in the mission of AACC and has an exceptional drive for furthering our fundraising efforts as well as strategizing and delivering on new ones.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

· Cultivate a network of dedicated donors and volunteers

· Spot and secure new fundraising opportunities

· Plan fundraising initiatives to help the organization meet financial goals

· Form strong relationships with external funders and companies

· Ensure major donors are satisfied and kept in the loop on the association’s priorities

· Research individuals, corporations, and foundations that are interested in gift giving aligned to AACC’s priorities

· Effectively convey the organization’s mission, vision, and programs to potential donors

· Write grant applications and fundraising proposals

· Craft and assist with crafting corporate partner proposals, finalizing letters of agreement, and coordinating internal logistics

· Strategize and successfully execute fundraising campaigns

· Organize funders briefing(s) and other fundraising activities that keep key external partners abreast of the association’s priorities and projects

· Manage a budget and track whether goals are being met

 

Required Skills and Qualifications

· At least three years of experience in fundraising and/or corporate sales

· Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills

· Ability to motivate colleagues

· A portfolio of past funded projects that speaks to your ability to be successful in this job

· Strong attention to detail

· Passion for research

· Ability to successfully balance priorities while managing multiple tasks

 

Preferred skills and qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in communications, business, public relations, or related field

· Certification or similar qualification in fundraising

· Competence with donor management systems

· Experience in writing successfully funded grant proposals

· Confidence in public speaking
