Required Degree: PhD in Civil Engineering or highly related field
The required degree must be completed by the start date.
Experience: Extensive experience developing and training users on custom science and engineering software applications using a wide variety of programming languages, libraries, and platforms.
Duties/Expectations: The selected candidate will work on one or more research projects in the Department of Civil & Construction Engineering related to engineering software development and training for geospatial data analysis, sharing, and modeling in hydrology and water resources. Tasks include: 1) Participating actively in the design and develop both web-based and desktop software tools using open source and proprietary mapping libraries; 2) Helping advise graduate and undergraduate students involved in the projects; 3) Assisting with the management of source code, issues, and tasks using code versioning systems; 4) Writing associated end user documentation and tutorials and organizing and delivering workshops and training; and 5) Preparing manuscripts and posters for presentation at appropriate professional conferences and for publication in peer-reviewed journals. The candidate should be committed to publication of research results in peer-reviewed journals, should have excellent English communication skills, and enthusiasm for hydroinformatics.
