Reports to: CEO

Hours: Full Time at 40 hours a week, salaried exempt position

Job Description:

The nonprofit Alive Center for Teens in Naperville (also in Aurora and Hanover Park) is looking for a seasoned Development Lead (DL). The DL is responsible for leading all non-grant development/ fundraising activities for the Alive Center to support the operations of its free teen Drop-In programs. This position is responsible for developing and stewarding long-term relationships with individuals, organizations and corporations capable of providing $1,000+ in annual financial resources. The DL will create and executive a comprehensive fundraising plan to expand philanthropic support of the organization. The plan will address identifying and strengthening relationships with community stakeholders, actively pursuing and managing corporate and individual leads, securing major donors, fostering strong donor and sponsor stewardship and more.

The ideal candidate has high energy, is a go-getter, is a hard worker with a strong work ethic, a natural relationship builder, well organized, and able to make a compelling case with donors for investing in Alive’s mission. The Alive Center is a thriving and growing with a franchising model and requires independent thinkers with strong problem-solving skills and computer skills. Additionally, the candidate should be persistent and consistent in outreach efforts.

This position will require work outside of normal business hours to attend meetings and events. The position is a mix of in-office and donor meetings.

Detailed Responsibilities:

Design and implement a comprehensive fundraising plan annually which maintains the fiscal health of the organization and provides future financial resources for growth and expansion.

Bring in NEW $1,000+ annual donors. Manage a portfolio of donors at the $1,000+ giving levels, including identifying, qualifying, and cultivating prospective donors.

Develop strong relationships within the community to foster a positive image such that companies, schools, civic organizations and individuals will make the Alive Center the local charity of choice for funding. Attend local area Chamber of Commerce events and deliver presentations on programs to various community, corporate and church groups.

Create and manage a Planned Giving Program.

Track all donations and donors through Virtuous CRM database. Use the automation features of the database to build donor relationships and move donors to higher levels of giving.

Work collaboratively with Marketing and Events Lead and event committee to offer management, production, and oversight of fundraising events.

In conjunction with the Marketing and Events Lead design and execute annual giving campaign, Giving Tuesday, and other fundraising campaigns.

Design and implement donor recognition communications/activities and adhere to a stewardship plan.

Leverage Alive Center boards to cultivate new donors.

Capture stories and create testimonials of all key Alive programs.

Perform other duties as assigned by the CEO.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Ability to bring a strategic approach to overall fundraising to ensure sources of funding are diverse and re-occurring
  • Excellent personal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Good public speaking skills and an excellent listener
  • Strong organizational, time management and project management skills to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Ability to be a self-starter and take initiative while collaborating with other team members
  • Ability to foster and promote business relationships and partnering within the community
  • Comfortable working with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Ability to establish rapport and build on relationships to promote mission of the Alive Center
  • Ability to easily make a fundraising “ask”

Qualifications

  • 5 years of experience in a nonprofit development role preferred
  • Proven fundraising success including securing Major Donors
  • Nonprofit database management experience preferred
  • Microsoft office and/or Google Suite proficiency
  • Strong technical/computer skills

Salary Range: $55,000 - $70,000 based on experience
