Two Tenure-Track Assistant Professors
 
Job Description and Responsibilities:
The Manship School of Mass Communication at Louisiana State University seeks two tenure-track assistant professors in digital advertising and strategic communication. We are particularly interested in candidates whose research and teaching incorporates audience analytics, digital advertising strategy, paid/organic social media, computational social science, creative direction, storytelling, content marketing, and/or other related topics. Since both professors will teach within these core courses, knowledge across the discipline—and a passion for nurturing students’ learning—is required. The ideal candidate will also have professional experience in strategic communication, and the ability to teach related skills courses as well as conceptual, theoretical and methodological material at the undergraduate and graduate level. Candidates must demonstrate a strong research agenda that advances knowledge within strategic communication, and demonstrate an ability to motivate and help students develop their own.
Both professors will also supervise doctoral dissertations, master’s thesis research, non-thesis option professional projects and undergraduate honors theses. They will work closely with student organization(s) as advisers.
This is a full-time 9-month tenure-track appointment with a tenure-track academic rank of assistant professor. The start date for this position is August 2024.
 
Teach two graduate and/or undergraduate courses in the Manship School. 40%
 
Conduct research in field of expertise. 40%
 
Service to the Manship School, university and community. 20%
 
Required Qualifications, Assistant Professor applicants:
Ph.D. in Mass Communication, Advertising, Digital Media or related discipline (A.B.D. candidates may be considered). Applicants should demonstrate a promising or established research agenda in advertising, digital media, content marketing, and/or related fields.
 
Desired Qualifications
At least three years’ professional experience in digital advertising/marketing, or strategic communication
A research and/or teaching agenda focused on one or more core areas of strategic communication, including but not limited to: audience strategy, audience analytics and engagement, paid/organic social media, SEO, content marketing, or creative direction)
Ability to teach both skills and conceptual courses in strategic communication at the undergraduate and graduate’s level
Ability to teach courses in mass communication theory and methods at the doctoral level
Record of scholarly publications and evidence of an active research agenda

This position provides the opportunity to develop new courses while engaging in an active research environment. The School is enhanced by support from its Reilly Center for Media & Public Affairs. In addition, the School fosters a lively and productive research environment through many funded research professorships available on a competitive basis.
