Job Description
POSITION PURPOSE
This position is responsible to establish, administer, and manage campus residence life-related programs as well as providing leadership and work direction to campus residence life work study students. The position also serves to sustain the vibrancy of residence life through student activities and involvement along with mentorship/training and establishment of connections with prospective and current students that facilitate co-curricular programs providing life learning opportunities and leadership skills for all.
This position also exists to recruit students to the college, and assist applicants through the enrollment process, while meeting college goals established by the Academic and Student Affairs (ASA) Leadership team and administrative leadership. This position serves as a spokesperson for the college through presentations, events, meetings, and communications with prospective students, high school counselors and teachers, and community partners.

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES AND RESULTS
1. Champion campus residential life experience.
o Lead and manage campus residential life programming to establish and maintain an environment conducive to learning.
o Develop college standards and policies conducive to a healthy residential life experience.
o Collaborate with Student Senate/Life staff regarding campus programming for all students.
o Direct the wide breadth of student life activities and leadership development programs through review, evaluation, and recommendation of activities and student experiences.
o Manage and direct residential life-related activities that enhance student engagement and learning.
o Manage and maintain supply and equipment inventories for residential life activities.
o Mentor students and external partners regarding leadership development.
o Collaborate with Title IX/Bias Response committee in executing successful programming related to campus safety, sexual assault prevention, drug/alcohol prevention education, etc. Serve as a Campus Security Authority per the Jeanne Clery Act and refer cases to the Director of Student Success promptly.
o Engage in strategic planning with ASA leadership and stakeholders to maintain and grow the vitality of PTCC’s campus residential life experience.
o On a daily basis, live the mission, vision, and values of PTCC to ensure a positive experience for all students and community partners through the principles of Appreciative Education.
 

2. Admission to the College
o Represent the college and academic programs at events, including but not limited to college fairs, career fairs, and community events. Recruit and counsel prospective students on the admissions process.
o Assist prospective students and applicants through the admissions process, including application to the college and registration for first semester courses. Answer questions and reach out to prospective students and applicants through phone calls, emails, and text messaging, and maintain accurate records.
o Develop, coordinate, and lead events and programming for prospective students including but not limited to college information sessions, special events, summer programming, and events that engage specific populations including high school students, historically underserved groups such as first-generation, culturally diverse, students with disabilities, LGBTQ+, single parents, displaced workers, Veterans, ESOL, and non-traditional students.
o In collaboration with Marketing, communicate and distribute timely, effective and professional recruitment materials to interested students, parents, schools, colleges, businesses, and community groups.
o Review and evaluate recruitment activities, communications and special events to assess effectiveness and ensure alignment with the marketing and enrollment plan. Identify target recruitment sites according to enrollment trends/analysis.
 

3. Provide general advising to students utilizing knowledge of current curriculum, academic support services, financial aid, scholarships, and community resources to help students reach their educational goals.
o Provide first-level financial aid advising to assist students with understanding the ways in which to pay for college.
o Facilitate and encourage the use of student services areas, e-services and online resources, DARS, and academic/career planning resources with students.
o Assess and meet individual students and target group needs by understanding and supporting college-wide services, policies and procedures, and community resources, including referrals to campus and community resources when appropriate.
 

4. Support Pine Technical and Community College and departmental mission, vision, and strategic goals as assigned by the supervisor or college administration.
o Serve as a liaison between internal Minnesota State workgroups and external partners concerning student admissions and campus-residence life initiatives.
o Serve in PTCC committees that best align with work duties and as assigned by the supervisor.
o Identify grant opportunities and assist in grant writing.

5. Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the smooth function of the college and maintain the reputation of the college as a viable community partner.

Required Qualifications
o Associate’s degree in a related field
o Two years of professional-level experience in interpreting policies and procedures which support college admissions, academic, financial, or career advising, student or academic affairs, residence life, outdoor leadership, or adult developmental education.
o Marketing and public relations and or experience sufficient to motivate cooperation among the college, businesses, and the community.
o Proficiency with a variety of word processing, database, and web-based applications sufficient to accurately collect data and create reports efficiently.
o Professional experience in the application and integration of educational policies, procedures, and practices; customer/student service standards; and continuous quality improvement methods.
o Ability to analyze, interpret and communicate, both in writing and orally.
o Knowledge of data privacy laws
o Valid driver’s license to conform to Minnesota State vehicle use criteria and consent to a motor vehicle records check.

Preferred Qualifications
o Bachelor’s degree (or Bachelor’s degree in progress) in Counseling, Student Development/Affairs, Residence Life, Outdoor Leadership, Psychology, Business, Human Resources, Public Administration, Social Work, Education, Sociology, or a similar discipline.
o Extensive knowledge of college courses and programs including an understanding of course descriptions, syllabi, and other academic resources including financial aid.
o Experience with a student record system such as ISRS; as well as other data and communication tools.
o Familiarity with online learning management platform(s) and other academic technology.
o Experience with grant and project development, execution, management, and assessment.
o Exceptional interpersonal communication skills and emotional intelligence, including training/teaching skills and conflict management.
o Knowledge of state and federal regulatory laws such as the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and the MN Governmental Data Privacy Act (MGDPA).
o Three or more years of experience within higher education student services
o Understanding history, philosophy, and critical issues in higher education are sufficient to develop programs and resolve issues.
o Demonstrated independent decision-making skills along with the ability to communicate and collaborate with others to successfully meet project and/or campus goals.
o Self-starter with an ability to function with minimal direction.

Other Requirements
In accordance with the Minnesota State Colleges & Universities (Minnesota State) Vehicle Fleet Safety Program, employees driving on college/university business who use a rental or state vehicle shall be required to conform to Minnesota State’s vehicle use criteria and consent to a Motor Vehicle Records check.
