About the Music Production Technology Program

Music Production Technology offers a two-year Associate of Science degree and several specialized audio certificates. Classes concentrate on the areas of Recording Technology and Techniques, Audio Mixing, Studio Maintenance, Acoustics, Sound Reinforcement, Stage Lighting, and Audio for Media. Students develop a functional understanding of musical language, musical elements, and performance skills. Business and legal areas related to the musical/entertainment industry complete the course of study.

Job Summary

The Music Production Technology Production Program seeks a fulltime tenure-track Sound Reinforcement and Lighting Faculty for Spring 2024. Must possess a strong, professional background in live event production. Faculty will be teaching a variety of classes related to sound reinforcement and lighting for stage and concert.

 

 

Required Qualifications: This position requires a Master’s degree (or equivalent experience) in relevant field and possess a strong, professional background in live event production. Must have the following experience:

  • Industry-related work background in stage lighting and moving lights.
  • Experience or certification with Hog 4 lighting console
  • Experience or certification with Dante audio-over-ethernet
  • Experience or certification with DiGiCo and other digital audio consoles
  • Experience or certification with stage rigging
  • Professionalism and strong communication skill

 

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Certification or experience with Pro Tools
  • Knowledge of stage power distribution and safety
  • Knowledgeable in Hippotizer media server
  • Knowledgeable in Vectorworks software
  • Knowledgeable in LightWrite software
  • Proficiency in computer networking
  • Experience working collaboratively with others in an academic and/or professional environment.

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

Teaching

  • Teaches assigned courses.
  • Uses instructional technology methods when presenting course content.
  • Communicates effectively and efficiently with students.
  • Provides written course syllabus which includes classroom policies, procedures, grading, and learning outcomes.
  • Uses appropriate and up-to-date course materials, including learning objectives, texts, and supplementary teaching materials.
  • Applies classroom management strategies in face to face, hybrid, and/or online format.
  • Implements student assessment policies, such as testing or observation of skills.
  • Submits grades or other course assessment reports in a timely manner.
  • Manages routine classroom responsibilities in a professional manner.

 

 

Professional Development

  • Participates in activities that advance professional competencies and teaching skills.
  • Engages in activities that advance the teaching discipline or profession.
  • Maintains or acquires appropriate or required certifications, licensure, or other professional credentials.

 

 

College Responsibilities and Service:

  • Serving on department, school, and college-wide committees.
  • Participating in the promotion and continuing contract process.
  • Attends department, division, and college-wide academic functions.
  • Keeps scheduled office hours as required by the respective load formula for the purpose of academic advising.
  • Records student attendance as necessary.

 

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: This position requires a knowledge of areas of discipline to be taught; the ability to establish and maintain effective professional relationships with students, colleagues and supervisors; the ability to communicate clearly, effectively and professionally through oral and written communications; commitment to the community college mission, innovative and effective teaching, sustained and significant professional development, and service to the College; Computer literacy and the ability to navigate in a Macintosh environment is also required.
