QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

· Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.

· Three years of experience in a public-serving capacity.

· Valid Driver’s License.

· Proficient with computer software. Must include Excel and Microsoft Office.

Preferred:

  • Up-to-date knowledge about Student Exchange and Visitor Information System (SEVIS).
  • Experience working in an institution of higher education.
  • Involvement with student programs.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

For the International Program the position will report to the Executive Director of Student Affairs, and for Student Resources the position will report to the Director of Student Affairs for job responsibilities and other College related activities as outlined in the Policies and Procedures Manual. Essential duties include but are not limited to the following:

International Program

  • Provide comprehensive guidance to international students as they begin the admissions process and obtain all required documentation for acquiring a student visa including reviewing the evaluation of complex international documents;
  • Develop a process guide to better assist international students with the Admissions process and the receipt of required admissions documents;
  • Create and issue Form I-20s for prospective F-1 students to provide eligibility to obtain an F-1 visa to enter the United States;
  • Maintain student and college compliance with federal regulations by performing, each semester, a review of records and documentation for F-1 students;
  • While serving as the primary advocate, advise students on lawful immigration, maintain updates to their SEVIS record and I20s, verify student enrollment to certify eligibility status, monitor academic progress; and develop continued communication avenues with students;
  • Work closely with athletics to provide a seamless acceptance and eligibility process for international students;
  • Maintain knowledge of federal immigration regulations through training with SETA: SEVP External Training Application, and review all updated information provided by SEVIS;
  • Collaborate with the Marketing Department to create an International page on the website and continue to provide updates as needed;
  • Meet regularly with the Admissions, Student Affairs, and Athletics to coordinate action plans and tracking for incoming and current students and to plan and execute goals and objectives;
  • Collaborate with the Scholarship Department to secure grants and/or scholarships to financially assist international students;
  • Collaborate with Student Affairs to offer International New Student Orientation to include information on state laws, health education and insurance, banking and financial matters, applying for a social security card, public safety issues, travel endorsements, and transitioning for life in the U.S.

Student Resources

  • Promote and support Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion through cultural activities and events on campus;
  • Maintain communication and meet regularly with Grants Office, Advancement, and external partners to ensure adequate funding for student resource programs;
  • Establish and maintain partnerships with community businesses/organizations and other entities to leverage resources to support and market assigned programs. May develop presentations in areas of specialization, advise students, and complete special projects as needed/assigned;
  • Oversee and manage Student Emergency Aid requests and AC Perks application processing;
  • Schedule and interview each qualifying applicant and collect and prepare supporting documentation to be submitted to the Emergency Aid approval committee or designated department;
  • Work with third-party vendors to obtain required W-9s for payment processing;
  • Conduct research and planning necessary to facilitate program evaluation and reporting. Oversee and assist with the evaluation process;
  • Serve as liaison for community partners to build and strengthen partnerships to secure resources for student support services;
  • Track and monitor program activity to include student demographics for monthly reporting and assessment;
  • Develop and streamline processes for support services and resource programs;
  • Collaborate with Student Affairs and Marketing to provide detailed communication regarding student resources to students, staff, and faculty throughout the year;
  • Collaborate with the Angelina County and Cities Health District, Lufkin High School, and other area high schools to plan and execute Meningitis Vaccination Clinics and manage funding with the Grants Department;
  • Assist with effective and updated communication of health and safety resources and AC’s health protocol and guidelines for students.
  • Work with COVID Response Team to discuss all health-related topics;
  • Collaborate with ACCHD on all health-related issues concerning the College; and
  • Provide support for Student Affairs programs, projects, activities, and events.

CONTRACT & SALARY:

$18.25 per hour, in addition to excellent employee benefits. Proof of identity and eligibility to work in the United States must be verified for the successful candidate.
