Eurasia Foundation is seeking an experienced facilitator to guide a discussion among board members and senior staff regarding critical issues facing the organization. The facilitation aims to promote open dialogue, strategic thinking, and consensus-building among participants to develop actionable solutions.
 

Essential Functions
Pre-Event Planning:
  • Conduct a pre-retreat consultation with key stakeholders, including the board chair and president, to understand organizational priorities and desired outcomes.
  • Review relevant organizational documents, strategic plans, and any other materials to gain a comprehensive understanding of the issues at hand.
Agenda Development:
  • Design a detailed agenda outlining specific time allocations for each agenda item.
  • Clearly define the objectives for each agenda item to keep discussions focused.
  • Incorporate interactive and participatory methods to encourage engagement and discussion.
Facilitation Techniques:
  • Utilize proven facilitation techniques to ensure an inclusive and collaborative environment.
  • Encourage open and constructive dialogue while managing time effectively to cover all agenda items.
  • Foster an atmosphere that promotes creativity and critical thinking.
Issue Exploration:
  • Guide discussions on the identified critical issues, ensuring all perspectives are considered.
  • Facilitate SWOT analysis or similar exercises to assess the organization's strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats related to each issue.
  • Encourage board members to share insights, experiences, and potential solutions.
Consensus-Building:
  • Implement techniques for building consensus among board members.
  • Facilitate a structured process for prioritizing and selecting actionable solutions for each identified issue.
Documentation and Reporting:
  • Document key discussions, decisions, and action items.
  • Provide a comprehensive post-retreat report summarizing outcomes, action plans, and any additional recommendations.
Education
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
Qualifications/Experience
  • At least 10 years of experience facilitating retreats
  • At least 5 years of experience working with nonprofit board; knowledge of governance issues and board dynamics
  • Experience working with organizations in the global development industry
  • Clear communication and active listening skills
  • Time management skills to ensure discussions progress within the allotted time frames
  • Organizational skills including agenda planning
  • Flexibility and adaptability
