We are seeking an enthusiastic professional Nurse Administrator - Program Director ADN Program who is passionate about cultivating the school’s mission and objectives through student instruction, guidance and review in order to ensure successful development of each student. Because of our commitment to community, employment preference is given to residents who live in WV and the New River Community Technical College service area.

This position is a full-time position for Raleigh County Campus on site and will report directly to the Dean of Preprofessional programs. The position will work collaboratively with management, faculty and staff within the department and college to serve the best interests of the students. Some travel will be required to additional New River CTC locations.

Job Summary

The Nurse Administrator will provide the vision and leadership required to support and enhance the mission of the Nursing Programs (Associate Degree Nursing and Licensed Practical Nursing). Primary administrative responsibilities include: program development/management; continuous review; planning; budget administration; general effectiveness of the programs; accreditation; and supervision/mentoring to part-time faculty. Instructional responsibilities require a broad-based knowledge of the role of nursing in the health industry. The Nurse Administrator is a member of the full-time faculty and reports to the Dean for Transfer and Pre-Professional Programs.

In addition, the Nurse Administrator is responsible for supporting student success by creating an optimum learning environment; responding to student needs; managing effective instructional activities; developing curriculum; modeling employability skills; demonstrating professionalism; developing cooperative work relationships with other faculty and staff; supporting college administrative requirements; and maintaining competency in their instructional field. He/she will be responsible for quality instruction and for effective participation and interest in the total affairs of the college.

Performs other functions as required or assigned. Also complies with all Policies and Standards.

Summary of Responsibilities:

Administrative: Provides overall leadership and management to the Nursing programs to include: developing/reviewing curriculum including ensuring the establishment of effective student learning outcomes and related assessment methods; developing class schedules and faculty assignments in coordination with the dean and faculty; supporting nursing students through the academic program; ensuring retention and graduation; providing oversight of program budgets and inventory for all supplies and equipment; participating in the college’s hiring process; orienting new full- and part-time faculty to program practices; providing evaluative feedback to faculty/staff regarding job performance; overseeing the supervision and mentoring of part-time faculty to ensure academic quality and consistency; identifying/promoting professional development for self, faculty, and staff; maintaining knowledge of current industry standards by developing relationships with industry leaders, experts, and companies; continuously evaluating national, regional, and local workforce trends in Nursing and the West Virginia Board of Examiners for Registered Professional Nurses (WVBOERPN) and the West Virginia State Board of Nursing for Licensed Practical Nurses (WVSBONLPN) approval requirements to ensure curricular relevancy; maintaining WVBOERPN and WVSBNLPN compliance standards; assuming direct instructional responsibility for components of the Nursing curriculum in accordance with established college guidelines; coordinating outreach and developing/maintaining relationships with industry-related personnel and employers to promote the advancement of industry employment for graduates; accepting all other duties as assigned by the President or designee.

Provides daily & ongoing oversight of facilities, equipment, and student records to include: maintaining classroom and laboratory spaces including: upkeep of assigned equipment; providing for the security of facilities, equipment, and instructional materials and maintaining safe working conditions; maintaining student records (e.g., grades and attendance) in accordance with established deadlines using a variety of technology-based programs (e.g., LMS Platform); complying with all applicable college, state and federal rules and regulations.

Prepares periodic reports, financial statements, or records on program activities, progress, status, or other special reports for the college leadership routinely and as requested. Develops and schedules program work plans in accordance with specifications and funding limitations, coordinates activities of the program, determines priorities, and keeps the dean, faculty, and staff abreast of potential issues. Monitors course offerings and recommends additions, changes, deletions to keep the program current. Coordinates the development of course outlines and materials in assigned area. Recruits, interviews and recommends trainers/instructors/staff, and provides orientation for assigned area. Monitors and evaluates trainer/instructors/staff performance. Prepares documentation for the origination of classes; schedules dates, rooms, and trainers/instructors. Proofs class schedules for accuracy.

Advises students on a variety of learning and administrative matters; assesses students in training needs for program/area; suggests alternative courses of action. Identifies qualified persons to serve on advisory committees and recommends to the dean. Meets with the Advisory Committee and follow up on recommendations; submits committee meeting minutes. Reviews need for equipment, supplies, and instructional materials and recommend purchase. Ensures program accreditation, certification, and licensure. Represents the program and college at meetings of professional organizations.

Serves as liaison with students, faculty, staff, and outside/community agencies in facilitation program objectives. Develops forms and records to document program activities. Assists in developing funding proposals for the program to ensure the continuous delivery of services. Ensures that programs operate within the approved budget. Monitors all budgeted program expenditures. Ensures that all financial records for the program are up to date.

Teaching: Prepares & teaches departmental courses to include: Developing learner-centered lesson plans; employing teaching strategies and instructional materials for different learning styles; incorporating, as appropriate, current technology in the classroom, distance learning, and laboratory environments; creating and modeling a quality learning environment that supports a diverse student population; preparing, distributing, and utilizing instructional support materials, including course syllabi, supplementary materials, instructional media, and other devices as appropriate; updating and revising curriculum to maintain currency; developing new courses as needed to support the instructional mission; participating in the development and review of course and program/general education outcomes as appropriate; developing, conducting and documenting appropriate assessment of student learning in outcomes courses and programs/general education as appropriate.

The Nurse Administrator does not serve as teaching faculty but may be required to instruct based on faculty availability but will be assigned no more than 6 credit hours in an academic year. Position may require travel between campuses.

Academic Requirements:

The Nurse Administrator must possess a baccalaureate degree in nursing and a master’s degree in nursing. A doctoral degree is preferred.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
