Summary

A part-time lab manager position is available in the Beliefs and Decision-Making lab (BDM lab, see https://sites.lsa.umich.edu/molnarlab, PI: Dr. Andras Molnar) in the Department of Psychology at the University of Michigan College of Literature, Science, and the Arts in Ann Arbor, Michigan. We are seeking a lab manager with experience in human subject research to work on several projects involving large-scale online behavioral experiments. This is a new laboratory within the University of Michigan and is in the process of being set up for long-term success. Candidates with diverse skill sets are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities*

As a Lab Manager in our research group, you will play a crucial role in advancing our understanding of human decision-making. You will work closely with our team to design, implement, and manage large-scale online behavioral experiments. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research in a collaborative and stimulating environment. The knowledge and skills you acquire in this position will provide a strong foundation for your academic and research pursuits, making it an ideal steppingstone for those interested in pursuing graduate studies.

  • Lab Administration: Oversee day-to-day lab operations, including lab meetings, budget management, and procurement of lab equipment.
  • Lab Communication: Maintain internal lab manual, lab mailing list, and lab website (WordPress).
  • Ethical Compliance: Assist lab members in submitting and revising IRB materials to ensure all research activities adhere to ethical guidelines and standards.
  • Experiment Management: Design and oversee the implementation of large-scale online behavioral experiments (primarily using Qualtrics XM), including participant recruitment and human subject payments.
  • Data curation: Maintain and curate collected data to ensure that data collection and archival adhere to transparent and ethical reporting practices.
  • Training Research Assistants: Onboard and train undergraduate research assistants in lab protocols and experimentation techniques.
  • Additional duties may be assigned.  

Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field (e.g., psychology, cognitive science, behavioral economics, or related disciplines).
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Desired Qualifications*

  • Master's degree is preferred. 
  • 1 - 2 years-related experience required.
  • Prior experience in human subject research (including IRB procedures), lab management, or behavioral experiments.
  • Proficiency in experimental design and data collection, especially using online platforms (Qualtrics XM, Prolific, MTurk).
  • Experience with WordPress
  • Budget administration experience desired. 

Additional Information

The salary range is $18,000 to $22,500 (full-time rate of $36,000 - $45,000). Please note a higher salary may be offered based on equity and the selected candidate's experience.
This is a 12-month term-limited position with the possibility of renewal. The anticipated start date is January 8th, 2024.
