The CU Medicine team delivers business operations, revenue cycle and administrative services to support the patients of over 3,500 University of Colorado School of Medicine physicians and advanced practice providers. Due to the nature of this role, we will only consider candidates who currently reside in Colorado or those with tentative plans to relocate to Colorado.

This job offers a primarily remote work structure with on-site work required as dictated by the needs of the job.
We are seeking a highly motivated Human Resources Generalist to join our team.

The HR Generalist will provide a broad range of human resource support to employees, management and executives within assigned areas to assist in aligning the HR strategic initiatives of the organization. This role will perform a wide range of support to various human resource programs and initiatives, including but not limited to performance management/employee relations, events management, onboarding, and unemployment.

Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:Employee Relations:

  • Manage employee relations issues for assigned departments/levels, including serving as point of contact for employees and managers to discuss HR issues and develop strategies to resolve problems.
  • Perform coaching and conflict resolution for management and employees.
  • Perform internal interviews and investigations as needed to resolve employment complaints.
  • Consult with HR leadership and/or legal as needed to ensure compliance with all state and federal laws, minimizing organization risk.
  • Review and approve all formal disciplinary action.
  • Assist with or conduct terminations of employment as needed.

General HR Support

  • Serve as a liaison to both management and staff for general questions or inquires related to hiring, terminations, compensation, benefits, performance management, employee development, personnel changes, as well as company policies, practices and regulations.
  • Review and respond to all requests for unemployment benefits from the Department of Labor & Employment and participate in unemployment hearings as necessary.
  • Provide onboarding support to new CU Medicine leaders/people managers and prepare/conduct educational sessions to ensure they are abreast of all relevant state and federal employment law and policy changes.
  • Ensure the CU Medicine employee handbook is reviewed annually and updated as needed.
  • Maintain the telework program, ensuring all required documentation is completed, requests are approved and meet program guidelines, and the HRIS system is updated accordingly.

Performance Management

  • Administer and manage the performance evaluation process ensuring all employees are evaluated per the organization’s policy.
  • Review and provide feedback on evaluations as needed and partner with leadership to continuously evaluate related programs and processes and recommend changes as needed.
  • Manage the organization’s online application for performance management to include set-up and monitoring of all evaluation and feedback processes, troubleshooting system issues, providing end-user support, understanding all system functionality, and implementing changes/improvements for process improvement and efficiency.

Employee Events

  • Manage all CU Medicine corporate events, ensuring they are executed on time and within budget.

Perform other duties and assist with special projects as assigned.

Requires a bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of relevant human resources experience. PHR, SHRM-CP or other HR-related certification is strongly preferred. Must have experience managing employment issues, including disciplinary action and conducting employee terminations. High-level knowledge of all federal and Colorado employment laws including, but not limited to, FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEO, HFWA, FAMLI and worker’s compensation is necessary. Must be well-versed in Microsoft products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher or similar. Exceptional communication skills are critical to this position with the expectation all written work is carefully prepared and reviewed ensuring accurate spelling and appropriate grammar at all times. Must be able to effectively communicate difficult topics and remain calm and composed during potentially emotional conversations. Requires the ability to maintain professional business relationships, build trust and exercise influence at all levels of the organization. Must be able to prioritize in a demanding work environment. Confidentiality is paramount.

The listed pay range (or hiring rate) represents CU Medicine’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting and is based on evaluation of competitive market data.
A variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, and education will be considered when determining the final offer.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
