Overview:

The Human Resources Specialist is responsible for performing employee relations duties within Human Resources. This person reviews, processes, and routes a wide range of incoming human resources documentation. Updates HRIS and other systems as required. Duties will vary depending on area, but will involve contact with employees, managers, and external agencies and/or individuals to provide more advanced support of standard policy/procedural information. Individuals in the HR Specialist II role are required to function independently and provide, guidance relevant to all areas of human resources in addition to employee relations. Due to the location, walk-in volume in the HR area, individuals in this role will perform intermediate level problem resolution or referral on matters pertaining to human resources using independent judgement with support of the Sr Employee Relations Representative, HR Business Partner, or Director.
 
 

Current facility eligible for this role: Rust Medical Center.

 

Qualifications: Bachelors Degree required

 

  • At least two years of experience in Human Resources in an employee relations Specialist or Generalist role. Validated competencies in the HR Specialist-Employee Relations II or similar role.
  • PHR certification preferred.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Ability to ensure legal and policy compliance; Also ensures compliance with the Joint Commission and other accrediting agencies with a focus on file audits.
  • With very little consultation, able to identify problems, evaluate facts and formulate sound solutions escalating when necessary.
  • Utilizes HR information system to process actions, compile and analyze data.
  • Recommends appropriate actions based on Presbyterian policies and state or federal law. Handles all escalations from AskHR as well as direct walk-in traffic. This may include escalations to other area of the Human Resource Department or facility.
  • Deliver applicable trainings: grievance, HR Hot Topics, Employee File Contents, License/Certification Verification, etc. as directed by HR leadership or facility leadership.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and handle a variety of variables in situations where only limited guidelines exist.
  • Coordinate and facilitate grievance procedures and unemployment hearings;
  • Reviews, processes and provides follow-up requests in HRIS for extended leaves, corrective action, terminations/severance, ensuring paperwork is complete for payroll.
  • Demonstrate subject matter expertise regarding HR Specialist functions and processes.
  • Assist in training and support of HR Specialist I team members.
  • Other duties as assigned.
