Position Summary:

The President/CEO of the Waupaca Area Chamber of Commerce provides leadership, direction, and management for all aspects of Chamber activities and is responsible for seeing that the strategic initiatives and policies of the Board of Directors are effectively implemented. President/CEO serves as a non-voting member of the Chambers Executive Committee. The President/CEO directly reports to the Chair of the Board of Directors and communicates on a regular basis. The President/CEO is responsible for maintaining continuity of the Waupaca Area Chamber 501c(6), the Waupaca Area Chamber Foundation 501c(3) and the Waupaca Area Convention & Visitors Bureau 501c(6) and their corresponding board of directors. The President/CEO advises the Boards and committees regarding policy, programs, and other key initiatives and serves as the principal advocate and spokesperson for the Chamber. The President/CEO works closely with a wide range of constituencies in the public, private and not-for-profit sectors to build support and coalitions consistent with the Chamber and CVB’s overall vision, mission, goals, and priorities.

The President/CEO currently over sees a staff of three.

Nature and Extent of Assignments

The President is the chief executive and administrative officer of the Waupaca Area Chamber of Commerce, the Waupaca Area Chamber Foundation and Waupaca Area Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB). Duties for each include, but are not limited to, coordination and execution of business plans, adherence to policies and overseeing of staff/expenditures, and maintenance of dialogue with Boards, Staff and Investors.

Functions

1. Business Plan – Through the proper committee, he/she is responsible for identification of Chamber, Foundation, CVB and community needs and for the preparation of a Business Plans designed to meet these needs. This involves a constant evaluation of the programs. With recommendations for change as needed, and a system of measuring progress toward attainment of program and community goals.

2. Chamber Structure and Procedures – The President must pay constant attention to the internal structure of the Chamber, Foundation and CVB to ensure that the organizations are effectively geared to function with maximum efficiency in the anticipation, identification and solution of Chamber, Foundation, CVB and community problems. The President will recommend to the appropriate Board such changes in structure and procedures as are needed.

3. Finances – The President is responsible for developing the Chamber, Foundation and CVB budgets and relating budget to the program goals. As approved by the Boards, the President is responsible for all expenditures within the framework of the budget. He/she will prepare quarterly financial statements of income and expenses and ensure financial reviews are conducted as requested. He/she will seek maximum staff efficiency in all financial procedures and will prepare weekly deposits and payables for all accounts.

4. Investors – The President with the help of the Director of Investor & Visitor Relations and the Chamber Ambassadors will work to recruit and retain new and former Investors in the Chamber.

5. Staff – The President is responsible for the employment of all staff personnel, the assignment of their duties, the supervision of their work, the development of training as necessary, and the establishment –within the framework of the approved budget-of the terms of their employment. As indicated by the Business Plans, he/she creates such departments as are needed to implement the program.

6. Headquarters – As approved by the Board of Directors, the President is responsible for the location, design and maintenance of headquarters that will provide for an efficient operation and present an attractive “front door” for the use of Chamber Investors, the community, and visitors.

Compensation

Full-time, exempt position. Salary based on experience. Benefits include paid vacation, sick days and retirement under a SEP plan.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
