Genentech

Job Description

The Position

A position is available for a postdoctoral fellow with expertise in neuroscience, iPSC-derived models, and omics data to join the Departments of Microchemistry, Proteomics & Lipidomics + Next Generation Sequencing, and Neuroscience at Genentech, Inc. We have cutting edge facilities in-house for proteomics, lipidomics, NGS, CRISPR screens, in vitro and in vivo models, and computational biology.

Responsibilities:

Active areas of research include high-throughput proteome profiling of iPSC-derived brain cell types, mechanistic investigation of disease relevant proteoforms and organelle proteomics. The project will entail a combination of unbiased discovery and hypothesis driven research to derive causal relationships between pathways contributing to neurodegeneration. The successful candidate will be responsible for generation of large-scale datasets, derivation of causal models and follow up mechanistic investigations of novel findings. The candidate will work at the interface between disciplines and leverage expertise from different research areas including proteomics, functional genomics, computational biology and neuroscience.

Who You Are:

Team player with a fearless attitude to tackle long standing, difficult problems in neuroscience. Highly motivated and capable of independent work in a collaborative and multidisciplinary environment. Strong background in culturing and manipulating iPSC-derived models, CRISPR screens or neuroscience as evidenced by a first author paper published or accepted in peer-reviewed journals. Strong computational skills would be advantageous. Previous experience with proteomics is not required.

Candidates must have a Ph.D. in biology, biophysics, biochemistry or a related discipline.
