Position Highlights

The Department of OB/GYN at the University of Arizona is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate I candidate. The successful candidate will work independently using a variety of molecular biology and physiological techniques to examine fetal cerebral vascular development and epigenetic pathways. This position will involve a diverse range of activities, from basic laboratory maintenance to research projects utilizing advanced molecular techniques (in-vivo CRISPR/Cas9), histological, and biochemical approaches. Furthermore, animal handling, nutrition, and surgical experience will be key components of this position. Seeking an inquisitive, well-organized, and highly motivated person who is open to evolving research tasks and capable of developing techniques new to the laboratory to explore epigenetic mechanisms at a systems level.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Prepare, execute, and adapt molecular and cellular biological experiments to meet the needs of the research project such as, but not limited, to techniques listed: immunohistochemistry, bioinformatics (RNAseq & scRNAseq), pancreatic islet isolations, cell/organ culture, and metabolite tracer methodologies.
  • Maintain detail records of experimental procedure and analysis of results for presentation purposes.
  • Mentor students in procedures related to the research project.
  • Perform administrative and maintenance duties such as bookkeeping, ordering supplies, preparation of solutions, and waste disposal.
  • Consult with faculty researcher on independent research results and design future experiments.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Physiology or a closely related field.
  • Experience with molecular biology techniques, sequencing, and bioinformatics.
  • Evidence of peer-reviewed publications and scientific presentations.
