Postdoctoral Researcher (Zebra Fish)- Dennis Lab
The Dennis Lab at UC Davis seeks a highly motivated and independent individual interested in pursuing a career in functional genomics and developmental biology. Dr. Dennis's research focuses on the role of complex genomic variation in human traits and disease. The postdoctoral scholar(s) who secures this position will characterize human gene duplications important in neurodevelopment using zebrafish as a model system.
The successful applicant will be responsible for characterizing gene expression and function of human duplicated genes recently discovered from a complete human telomere-to-telomere genome. They will lead a project to perform mid-throughout functional genomics via CRISPR mutagenesis and single-cell transcriptomics of high-priority candidate genes using zebrafish larvae. The applicant will work closely with a team in the Dennis lab, as well as collaborators in the Quon and Jao labs at UC Davis. They will have the opportunity to attend workshops or courses aimed at advancing their existing analytical skills as required by ongoing and future research projects, mentor students, and to participate in the preparation and writing of manuscripts and grants.
