The Research Group of Dr. Hamel is seeking a Post Doctoral Scholar to perform collaborative original research pertaining to the conversion of carbon dioxide and plant waste biomass to advanced biofuels, specifically to engineer hydrogen and ethylene gas synthesis from lignin and cellulose by photosynthetic algae and bacteria. The Post Doctoral Scholar will provide supervision and guidance to research technicians and students (e.g., graduate, and undergraduate). The Post Doctoral Scholar may have the opportunity to work remotely within Central Ohio if/when needed to conduct duties such as data analysis, publication and report preparation, and literature survey. This position is for the duration of two years and the starting salary range for this role is $48,000-55,000 annually.

Minimum Education Required

Ph.D. in molecular genetics, microbiology or related field

Required Qualifications

Experience in microbial culturing and genetics techniques

Desired Qualifications

Prior work and experience with algae and Chlamydomonas growth and genetics
