What We Are Looking For:

Baylor University Department of Mechanical Engineering is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate for a Civic Resilient Energy Project.

 

We are looking for exceptional candidates with backgrounds in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, chemical engineering, or closely related fields for a civic resilient and clean energy project. Duties are diverse and multi-disciplinary to support and conduct engineering and research often supported with the application of advanced measurements. Areas of engineering and research include clean combustion systems and components, and laser diagnostic, and sensor tools application in these environments. The position also requires duties as program manager to help coordinate meetings with local communities and prepare technical reports.

What You Will Do:

The Cornerstone Advanced Atomization and Combustion Laboratory at Baylor University specializes in leading-edge research in the areas of thermo-fluids system/component design, atomization and sprays, combustion and propulsion, renewable energy, multi-phase flows, and advanced flow diagnostics.

 

Summarized Responsibilities Include:

  • Work effectively with cross-functional teams to understand technical requirements of various experiments and projects.
  • Conduct hands on engineering and research to plan, prepare, and execute measurements; lead, conduct, and manage experiments and projects.
  • Support and work alongside individuals in the development and application of diagnostic tools for applied combustion systems.
  • Analyze and interpret experimental data.
  • Communicate and document results with the appropriate shareholders.
  • Document and archive engineering and research findings

 

Skills & Experience Desired:

  • A PhD in mechanical engineering or a closely related degree. 
  • Strong communication and inter-personal skills, and the ability to work in a team.
  • Proficiency in communicating scientific/technical content in writing, publishing, and oral briefings.
  • Hands-on experience in the application of engineering theory and practice through technical projects.
  • Competency in engineering, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and combustion.
  • Demonstrated skill in engineering and data analysis.
  • Previous experience in the application of experimental diagnostic equipment
  • Broad knowledgebase in Mechanical/chemical/aerospace sciences/engineering, applied physics, optics, lasers, or related field.
  • Familiarity in data processing and 3-D CAD (SolidWorks etc) software packages.

 

Appointments are for one year with the possibility of renewal pending satisfactory performance and continued funding.

Research experiences as research assistants are also considered as work experience.
