Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

The College Park campus for the University of Maryland, Robert H. Smith School of Business, has instructional and collaborative technology in 46 classrooms and conference rooms. The AV Coordinator is responsible for investigating all technical support issues escalated from the Smith IT/AV Technicians or delegated from Smith IT Management or Administrators. The AV Coordinator has dispatch responsibility, which distributes the incoming requests for service to individual team members or support groups.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent

Experience:

3-5 years of experience with the types of hardware and/or software to be supported.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
  • Ability to support, identify, and provide tier 2 troubleshooting skills for general problems with PC/AV hardware and Apple devices. 
  • Knowledge of Crestron Technology, Crestron programming (Preferred), laptop/desktop/projection connectivity and interfacing, video conferencing, and teleconferencing. 
  • Able to make future design recommendations with applied technical knowledge and understanding of desired user experience. 
  • Ability to establish and maintain system and process documentation within ServiceNow platform. Ability to craft and action a training program for end users, student techs and colleagues. Knowledge of Win/Mac OS, IE, Firefox, Safari, MS Office suite, specifically PowerPoint, file/print services such as Active Directory, ServiceNow, and Google (Gmail).
  • The candidate must have a general understanding of client-server applications, networks, authentication, and application packaging. Must possess a positive attitude, willingness to learn, and proactively seek continuous quality improvement of services.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows OS and MS Office products.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with team members and willingness to share information. 
  • Ability to navigate and engage multiple stakeholders to obtain optimal customer service results. Ability to work with deans, University and visiting faculty, students, and staff. 
  • Excellent communication skills are necessary. 
  • Ability to use discretion and confidentiality with access to sensitive data and local administrative access to all desktop equipment and data in the environment for the purpose of support.
